I dunno who here has played say, Japanese games, but the same applies. They cater to their local fanbase first, then worry about US and Euro countries second.

Exactly what I was going to point out, Savanja. I've been playing Dance Dance Revolution since it's 3rd arcade incarnation (currently in it's 10th). DDR is made by Konami. Konami is a Japan-based company. Guess which fanbase they design/create the game for and cater to first?
Seriously, everyone has to wait for something at some point for some amount of time. Get used to it, especially when dealing with an overseas company. Localization isn't just a matter of translating American english into British English; you've got culture references to worry about and find an equivalent for, not to mention the other european languages that SOE is kind enough to translate the game into--no one ever said they
had to make the game where Germans, French, Italians, Swiss, etc. could read the game without an online translator handy. And it would make no sense from a business point of view to convert it quick 'n dirty for the British and then worry about the Germans next, then the Swedes, and so on. Instead they get lumped together, and considering they're all on the same fucking continent, that's what I'd do as well.
Also keep in mind that the localization department is probably
not the same people who write up all the dialogue, quests, and culture references to begin with. Which means localization has to wait for all that stuff to get completed. Once it
is completed, there's no reason hold it back from the US servers, since that's who it's written for first. Oh, EU servers won't get at the same time so they should hold it back? What about people who have to work during the day and won't get to play the latest GU until they get home that evening? What about people laid up in the hospital for surgery/illness who can't get to their comps? What about soldiers who play but are currently overseas? Should SOE hold off on a GU until EVERYONE can play at the same time? Obviously not, it becomes a ridiculous argument, and they know it.
