Beastlords were in during Luclin, still a few expansions to go before then.

To answer the question: They were useless on raids except for 1 buff (PARAGON LOL), no!

Just give wardens a shitty bear tank pet call it a warder. Then everytime somedipshit asks for a beastlord we can tell him to go make a warden and take the melee AA spec.

There ya go the eq2 version of beastlord, and possibly an easy way to make wardens a little better.

When you look at it like that, alot of classes were useless except for one thing that really fucking helped out. And outside of raids, beastlords filled in for any missing role you had in a group. Need a tank? Get that BL LFG? Need some CC? Grab him too! Need a lil extra dps? Sure! Need a second healer, hey he'll work! Short on power regen, hey BL is better than nothing!

Then being able to solo, with the ability to tank well, dps well, heal well, and have your own power regen apart from the KEI that anyone could buy for a few plat, you were pretty much solo gods.

The EQ2 classes are far from balanced, and if somehow the dev's finally get their heads out of their assholes in regards to class balancing and ACTUALLY figure it out, the answer isn't to add another class to the already over-filled lineup. It would be to plan those much-needed class merges!
