Okeys thanks for the help -- I dont play a ranger -- and I understand that you have to buy your arrows to increase you DPS ( or just plain to have your attacks available ).

ZZzzz.... please. Go home. Your free solo mythical item is waiting for you by the door.

I had this fat lil' naked lowbie dwarf giving me a lecture in a TS instance about waa waa waa I was being elitist and waa waa. I was digging through my Knowledge window but couldn't find an icon for the ability that lets me puncture his colon with the tip of my boot. At some point you just continually turn the whole "raiding doesn't make you better players than us" argument back at people by asking them politely to please Shut The Fuck Up N00b.

imo,

this game is very, very easy to play. You have buttons, and you press them. raiding boils down to a procedural abstraction; you have what could be considered a complex "big-picture", but each persons role is generally very simple. some more simple than others, but none what I would consider difficult.

what makes a good player is not someone with raid experience, master spells or gear. an intelligent, quick-thinking player who pushes themselves to their limit is what makes a good player.

The game seems divided between players whos level of thinking is down on the level of their character, and those who can see the broader picture of things. if raiding does anything, it quickly makes it obvious which category players fall into

I think a good sense of humor is important too, but thats debateable to some poeple :p

Talent that is underutilized is talent that may as well not exist.

What makes a good DPS class is pressing buttons instead of not pressing buttons. Playing a healer is way more challenging and fun and is where you can really stand out.

Seriously if you think all DPS classes are just based on button smashing... /sigh

Yeah I'm with Meridian on that previous comment. Having both a 70 Mystic and Brigand I can tell you that tactic in both classes are differn't but both can be fun as well. However both have at times a strat that must be played with more then just button mashing for Brigs or Ward mashing for Mystics. Granted I'll say there are times when my Mystic gets into the thick of a good fight running low on power and you get the Tank a saving heal, that's rewarding. Sadly with EQ2 being Mostly easy that's few and far between "unless you get a shit tank".
As far as the Brig goes there are times I tank or off tank or the raid timing dispatch and evading others that shouldn't have the hate. Ballz out DPS in the final seconds of a mob that needs to die because everyone is LOP and it's now or never. Ensuring certain Debuffs are on the mobs so other casters and scouts can up their DPS and a few other things Im sure I'm missing is also fun.

I will also say though SOE has made 89% heroic content that is mind numbing (only good for xp and quest updates) and 5% raid content that is Meh! and the other 5% they actully put thought and strat into in order to win.

Saying a DPS is just smashing buttons, is like saying a Tank just has to press Taunt and boom - game over.
