i miss SWG the way it was before SOE destroyed it with the CU and the oversized nail in the coffin that was the NGE.
I'm sure the NGE will forever go down in MMO history as how NOT to fix a game. At least I hope no company will ever screw up THAT badly ever again.
I also really prefered the modular skill based character advancement that SWG had. no levels, no forced class or archtype...
*sigh*

I just started playing the game so haven't nailed down my long term class yet (currently playing my 15th reroll... an illusionist), but I feel that if I don't play a paladin, I'm doing a disservice to God, my country, and poor starving children the world over. Holy crap you guys are convincing and passionate!
Anyways, just had to delurk to post my compliments to the paladins of EQ2 flames for their ability to convey their passion.

Re: Passion for your class...
It's hard to have passion for your class when they keep nerfing and not fixing the things they should be.
I played the game because I had fun, not so much that I had a passion about the class.

Re: Passion for your class...
I never switched main from my assassin. I love her. It's kind of an "honest" class. Pure DPS, nothing more. Very little utility. Very basic if you first look at it, but it takes some skill to get everything out of this class. You need to be fast, swift, etc. That's what appeals to me the most. I have to "work", it never gets boring. Played it from the start and will always play it I guess.
Second best for me is definitely my SK, since it's pure fun to play, and I prefer it to the assassin when I'm soloing.
No idea what some say about assassins' gimpness, that's just bullshit. You can be good as an assassin even with not the best gear. But then again, the person who said this was the one always complaining and moaning with no clue about asssassins at all, wasn't he .

Re: Passion for your class...
Been playing a fury since the beginning. And while it wasn't always this way, it's clear to me that SOE thinks the fury is a perfectly balanced class. I base this not on anything anyone has said, but on the plain data of how many times the fury has been nerfed over the past few years. I can count it on one hand with fingers to spare; the only real one of substance was reducing the damage on EV by 10%, and every fury I know agreed that it was a necessary tweak. Other than that they've pretty much left us alone, and while no one at SOE has come out and said as much, that tells me that they like the way the class is balanced as it is. The fact is that almost any class in the hands of a skilled player can perform so well that the usual suspects will bray about the need for nerfing them.
From a personal standpoint, I love my fury. I've played plenty of other classes; I have two accounts with full char slots. And while I've had fun with some of the others, I've never been tempted to change my main. I take pride in pushing the limits of what my class can do, in being able to solo heal the hardest zones while still pumping out good damage. I like the fact that SOE has provided me with a class where a skilled player can not only excel at healing but compete with the top DPS classes for the parse. IMO the fury in practice is exactly what they are described in lore as being.
And fuck merging us with wardens. Before EoF, you could've made a colorable argument for our two classes being very similar with cosmetic differences in abilities. The EoF AA lines changed that forever.
