Icon14 To RoK or not to RoK

Can some1 please explain to me why I shouldnt drop EQ2 at this time?

There is a new expantion comming that adds nothing new to my class the coercer. Oh there will be some new items and some new zones in the on the same dated engine but nothing will be added to the class. I will be hitting the same spells I have been hitting for years.

Or I could grab a new mmo...

Im really kinda pussled how soe can spend a year on an expantion that doesnt atleast try to shake things up a bit?

There will be 1 new spell per class, although that isn't much it is something new. Also, the 40 extra AA points is something to work towards. But have you seen the loot from Shard of Fear? Supposedly they are going to work more situational, fun loot into the game. If they do that then I believe ROK will be awesome. I personally love having multiple sets of backup gear for different situations. Other then that the raiding should be fun with the EH like raid zones if you like that kind of thing.

If you don't like EQ2, then you should probably quit it. A new expansion won't change anything. An expansion isn't supposed to be a revamp of the game, it's just supposed to be more of the same, but better/newer!

The fun lies in the journey not the destination?

Well... I thought about giving tabula rasa a try.

Might even try that RL thing for a bit

Oh and I know each class gets a new spell but the coercer RoK spell doesnt count. Just like the KoS spell posession didnt count

like Pinski said: it's an expansion, not a new game. If you aren't having fun in EQ2 now, you likely won't be having fun in EQ2 in 2 months either.

although I have heard good things about the VP encounter design~

I know its not a new game but an expansion implies something new/more doesnt it?

Tabula Rasa is being billed as a very casual game. If you are bored with EQ2, TR won't last you a week unless you enjoy "shooter" (although they are trying to avoid that stigma) style games.

Only you can answer what is makes EQ2 boring for you... what did you want them to do to your class?

Do something new, shake things up for yourself (don't wait for the designers to do it for you). Some random suggestions off the top of my head:

1. Start a random conversation with someone you don't know, it is a multiplayer game after all.
2. Find a newbie (go to a low level zone and find the guy with crap armor, not the guy in full Mastercrafted) and mentor/help him... explore low level content again.
3. Actually read all those books out there that you paged through to get to the quest at the end.
4. Tradeskill
5. Start an alt / try a new class; see what it's like to do something else for a while.
6. Play a different style game for a night or two (I still have Fear loaded).
7. Chat with a friend about life, not about the game.
8. Do something fun... i.e. Set up and run a scavenger hunt for lowbies with some reward, run a "name that song" in chat...

Good luck with your search.
