Re: DKP Application work for hourly?
kinda hijacking the thread (i didnt feel like starting a new thread about dkp) but is ther e a way to set a cap on eqdkp without having to either not mark that person for the raid or substract the extra dkp with personal adjustments (manually)?
ive been looking on the eqdkp forums for add-ons and stuff but couldnt find anything
thanks

That way you're only making an adjustment when you already have to make one anyway for the item and the person that is at the cap still gets dkp from raids.
For example, say your dkp cap is at 500, someone has 800 dkp and wants to buy an item for 200 dkp. They have 300 dkp over the cap so you'd tax them by a percentage, for this example I'll use 25%. They would be taxed by 25% of 300 which is 75. So you would add that onto the item cost and deduct that from their total and they would end up with a remainder of 525 dkp.

The reasoning behind having a DKP cap is so that new members actually have a slight chance at getting loot. Having somebody at 600 DKP bidding against somebody with 20 DKP just makes it impossible for that person with 20 DKP to cut into that person with 600 DKP, whereas if it was 100 DKP vs. 20 DKP, forcing the person to spend 20 DKP would be a fair chunk of their DKP, and they'd slowly be able to take loot over the person who had been there longer. Having no DKP basically allows people to have so much DKP that the people below them would never be able to take an item ahead of the other person because they'd have so much DKP that it'd be impossible to take away all their DKP.

logs are your friend.
turn time stamps on.
/log
/who guild
/log
of course this requires no one be ANON, just use /role if you want to hide your location, so it still shows the guild tag.
EQDKP hasnt upgraded in a very long time, it still is not fully compatible with EQ2 (last i checked), you may be better of writing your own or modulating EQdkp.

Yes, I know, I might be an eq2 noob but I'm not a noob to dkp . I was asking what HIS reasoning was for the cap. Because those at the cap are usually either your most active raiders or those hoarding dkp. Honestly if they're your most active raiders they should still earn something... and a dkp tax would encourage spending to stay below the cap by the hoarders. I'm kind of assuming a standard zero-sum system here, if not then it's very difficult to prevent the dkp gap between new and old from growing. Otherwise there are several ways to combat the problem.

Re: DKP Application work for hourly?
dkp cap is used only for one reason, and Pinski explained it (and that's why we use it)
anyways i wasnt looking for advice on how to better my dkp system, was just looking for an add-on to establish caps
