Default How much of a advantage to guilds in the beta have?

I'm kinda curious how others feel about this, I was just reading the beta forums of a expansion for a unamed game soon to be released (grin) and saw a hell of a lot of posts from the top raiding guild members.

I have no idea have beta is run, specifically the criteria involved in selecting which guilds are invited, but it did occur to me when I saw a post from a member of one of the top guilds saying how their entire guild just completed raid zone xxx that even if SoE make changes to some encoutners during the beta they do have a advantage over the other highend guilds not invited to beta.

Is there a battle amongst the top guilds to gain access to beta, do some developers request certain guilds, or is it just who shouts the loudest, do all the highend guilds go for beta or is it just the ultra competitive ones who want WW 1sts etc.

Not trying to start shit here, just genuially curious how the communinity feels about the whole beta testing raid zones etc and guilds who got invited, guilds who dont etc.

It's an advantage. Depending on who's taking the guild with they can either be given a shit ton of information, or very little information. Either way, just being there before anybody else is an advantage.

What's funnier is guilds who cry and cry to try to get in as a beta guild and then just don't. Here's looking at you fucking retards.

This time though, Disso has a lot of hands on experience in VP.

I dunno if it can even be considered an advantage anymore, since almost every guild who competes world wide is in beta for RoK.

Every major guild has most, if not all of there members in beta doing the same raids as a guild or in pick ups and getting the same info as the beta guilds most of the time. They just don't get in as a "beta guild" so they hide in the shadows and pull the beta guild card when they lose big kills.

I disagree on the fact that every guild is getting the same information as every other guild that is in beta.

Think of it this way...

If you were a developer, which I am, you want the most efficient testing group you can afford.. With that being said who is more efficient than a guild that regularly raids together now, all knowing their parts, instead of PUG's who more than likely will be slow, uneducated and ultimately won't thoroughly test the content your wishing to test.

While I undertstand your point there are just some things that have to be this way. You want someone who enjoys the game and is willing to put long hours into testing content for everyone so you have a more polished product. Yes it's a semi-advantage but think of it as payment for the work they do. You just have to make sure the ones you chose are willing to put the effort into it instead of fuck around like most solo beta testers would.

PUG content testing is also wanted which is why LFG was offered the chance to mobilize a EQ2Flames PUG raid guild to also see how the mechanics work for those that might not be as skilled in working together as a team.

True, I heard you had a QA person (in fact refused to raid w/o a contact from SOE) porting you around to all the named in VP.

CL hasn't had any such contact with SOE, we've simply raided the zones available to us on our own.

I also lol @ you already making up the beta excuse 2.0 - we may have been in RoK beta testing raids, but "insert guild who beat us to mob" got more information than we did!

Yes, because obviously because we can raid without somebody from SOE when we didn't even have half the people buffed to 80 with gear. Wait, how did you manage to get that without contact from SoE? How did a full guild of people get in without contact from SOE in the first place? Seriously Gaige, go talk to NPU about how much beta information they get compared to anybody else. Then please, shut the fuck up until you have all the facts.

LOL because i shared a few things I know with you when i came with you to the zone ? Thats not any info handed out thats called - I did the zone 2 days before and we figured it out. Sorry i gave you some hints to help you out that night, but it was not leet dev info. It was just me trying to help you along and give you ideas to what still needed testing instead of you spending time on stuff that i knew to be working or have known issues. Seriously, I thought you were smarter after talking to you the other night. You must of thought me to be dumber if you think i gave you any info i didn't want you to have.
