I don't have a problem with the idea that SOE would change racial traditions to make character race count for something.

The real problems are: 1) their DB is so fucked up they can't figure out how to give everyone a racial respec, and 2) they didn't even attempt to balance the new racials.

LOL no but really, I cannot comprehend how it would be even remotely difficult to script a racial respec, as a programmer mind you. Really wow, i mean what an excuse, they really though that would work on us?

I'm feeling less and less shafted about being a Wood Elf Guardian, but I still see the extreme unfairness with other classes and races, and wasting 3 months just to get back to lvl70 with the proper race? What a joke.
Its not like your race affects really affects anything, just reset your racial traits like you would if you respec'd them anyhow, and then change your race permanently which will give you a different appearance [shapeshifting eyes you get from Collection quests? Petrified Eyes i believe they're called?] and give you access to the new races racial abilities?

why doesnt Sony just do what they do best, and throw in the racial respec, and fix the bugs AFTER they release it? ^ ^

I agree that a racial respec should be done, and can in fact be done even with a fucked up DB. The problem I suspect is that the community college flunkies at SOE can't figure out how to make it work since the player character data was never normalized in the first place. So they'll go on with their 'it's too complicated and can't be done' bullshit.

They're less overpowered now, but a 1k aoe kicks the shit out of a 200 damage pierce attack.

Some races just get hosed, not just the class combos

I'm not sure where you're getting 1.5k aoe and 200 damage pierce attack. All the AoEs are on much longer reuse timers than the single target attacks anyway. I think all of the new attacks are pretty well balanced. The only things that are unfortunate for some combos regarding the racial attacks is that some of them require melee range, and some of them won't match with the race's primary stat.
