Level Increase and The NEXT Expansion

Now that RoK is pretty much here, I figured it was perfect timing for this post, especially since SOE is most definitely already at work ont he next expansion.

I fully realize a lot of people may be very tired of doing EoF, and I cannot blame them. Hell, it took us 2 months to catch up with almost everyone, so I see how a year of this could be really annoying. However, there are a ton of people that aren't even past Mayong or Wuoshi yet. Now with level 80 coming out, all of that stuff will become trivial (at best) to those folks.

So, please, whenever you are hard at work on the next expansion (please, say Velious), keep in mind how much content you have in RoK (which I hope will be a shitload more than EoF) for raiding and keep in mind that you do not have to make it 10 levels higher to make it dificult. EoF really showed that, honestly. It was not 10 levels higher than KoS but was definitely more difficult.

I miss the days of EQ1 and having more stuff to raid than you could possibly kill in a week.

You had to increase the level because of how broken the combat system was. Now that we're going to have an expansion with loot based around the current combat system, we don't need a level increase, as they should be able to manage with the combat system they built(if they can't, well that just means they should stop designing this game and get the fuck out of the industry).

Oh yeah, I agree with you 100%. HOWEVER they have to stop increasing the levels, they have to do it. It took EQ1 nearly 8 years to get to 80, but it took EQ2 3. That's pathetic.

Three years ago they told us that the plan was to reach level 250 in five years. I think they were still serving crack in the SOE employee cafeteria when they told us that.

Wow, I'd love to see where you got that level 250 number from. What I recall was that before releaes they stated the game was specced out to 200 levels, but 100 were adventure and 100 crafting.

If you have a link to that, I'd love to see it.

I don't think SoE is planning for another expansion right now. If RoK flops or if subs drop off shortly after there definitely won't be another expansion. I think they will be waiting until the new year before deciding on what to do.

I highly doubt it. You must not pay attention to how SOE works. They're still making expansions for EQ1, they will still be making expansions for EQ2 for quite sometime now.

Yeah, hell, they still update EQOA, which has 4 or so empty servers.
