Is there any way we can disable downloading voice and music packs?
I never have the sound on in game so it would make things a bit quicker for me.

Sounds like Esper may have the same issue as me. Something about downloading .mp3 files occasionally causes my launcher to cancel download, and I have to restart it manually. This happened when I came back during the return to norrath promotion and I had to download EoF, so it's probably not a high traffic issue. Anyone know what's going on there?

some of the files are optional, there are some settings where you can turn some ofthe stuff off.

update on my situation: normal launchpad refused to patch for me, so the new station launcher found his way on my computer and greeted me with a 2 hour d/l....

Ok I've discovered a trick so far.

Yes, everyone is downloading, and the servers are 'bogged' etc etc..

But there is a 'bug' 'problem' with the patcher and its servers.

Trick:

If you cancel your download when it bogs down.. and then press 'download' again.. (Sometimes you have to do this quite a few times) It will eventually connect to a better (or additional server) and maximize your connection.

For instance.. I have about 3 minutes left on the patch, from 30 Hours after running at 20Mbps (2Meg a second) for only a short period of time.

Hope that helps.. Working for me so far,.. although you do have to actively monitor the download progress bar constantly.

(However, keep in mind.. If I did *not* do this, I would remain at that slow speed, on the same file, and it might take an hour or longer for one file, that after pressing cancel and 'download' a few times would grab that file in less than a second.)

my patcher went fairly quickly, i got all logged in nice and safe and then realzied i hadnt activated my cd key
so i went and did that
and i have to patch for another hour and a half...what...the...fuck
i just patched for 2 hours

so....my pre-order magically disappeared, but I have the receipt and I'm afraid to just order a digital download again because if they double charge me I might become so frustrated with this shit storm of ineptitude they call a release, I might have an aneurysm.

Any advice. *sigh*
