EoF Forum, please vote - Page 2

I don't have a problem with a new EoF *content* forum (where people could post EoF quest spoilers, tradeskill info, zone info, etc), but I'd rather not make a new *discussion* forum just for EoF.

My thought is, on the first day EoF is released, *every* forum will be a EoF discussion forum, since the vast majority of our users only play current content except when leveling alts. It would make no sense to me if there was a forum for EoF, because all the other forums would then appear to be for the discussion of earlier content.

I mean, if there was a EoF section, and I wanted to make a post saying that EoF itemization sucked, or was good (I guess that remains to be seen), where would I make that post? In the Items and Equipment section, or in the EoF section?

So that's why I think additional discussion sections are a bad idea, and we don't need them. We have enough discussion sections as it is, and probably too many.

On the other hand, I'd be willing to add a new EoF-only content forum. The new content forum would be most appropriate in the content section of this site, with the links library. To be useful and not suck, content forums need to be policed and moderated, otherwise it's just a bunch of disorganized information.

I don't people who post here from fan sites thinking I'm trying to compete with them on content, that's not my intent. My intent has always been to be a discussion forum. I guess it wouldn't hurt to have a some expansion specific, user provided content, however, if Calthine wanted to start and maintain that type of section.

I'm with LFG, I'd rather have people just post the content information about EoF in the right forum and have it be left at that.

Where do you draw the line though? Soon we're going to have all sorts of people wanting to post all sorts of content, instead of a forum .. IMO should stick to a forum, but thats just my opinion. Personally, I didn't see an issue with an EOF forum for the first few weeks until things calmed atleast.

I really wish this whole thing was never brought up in the first place.

We have too many forums as it is. I'm definitely not going to start a new forum just for EoF discussion. If I did that, are all the other forums for non-EoF discussion? So once the only thing to talk about is EoF, we have like 35 forums, but only one is being used for EoF discussion?

Oh, thats fine .. I'm just saying IMO it should either be forum or not .. I agree there are tons of forums as is IMO .. a couple possible suggestions..
Is there anyway to make the server forums "minimized" like SOE has them, possibly making them click-able to expand on the same page, or redirecting us to another page? And is there any way there to have icons such as "spoiler" or things like that, to avoid posting spoilers for quests in this forum and others clicking it?

All the 5 main forum categories can be closed and opened (min/max'd) on the front page. There's a little -/+ box over on the right.

Ya there is a little plus/minus click thing on the right side of the graphic bar deal above each forum section that will collapse that entire section. I keep the server forums collapsed, makes using this whole site a ton easier IMO.

Also, I'm only trying to compete with the SoE forums here - I don't want any of my fansite friends to think I'm trying to compete or become a content site all of a sudden. This is really just a forum site. But if nobody minds, I don't care what is put up here, including content, as long as it doesn't violate the specific site rules.

Regarding spoiler icons, yes, we could designate one of the "post icons" you choose when makeing a post to be the spoiler icon, or I could replace any icon with one that would jump out and scream "spoiler icon". I'd just need suggestions or for people to post what a good and obvious spoiler icon is, then people could choose that when they make their post, and it would be obvious before they clicked.

Come to think of it, I should make one of those little icons say "NSFW".
