Default Did EQ2 become WoW2 ?

i see more good flames at eq2 official then here, so hopefully this will start some good stuff.

For me this solo progression till level 80 w/o any challange, w/o any time invested is like a knife in my left eye.

Where is the heroic content, where is exp debt trying stuff thats a challange

Where are my adept 1's I can loot and think: "hey, I just progressed a level". (rarr, flame on )

(only comment I would like to make about the solo content is that it is fun and well made, just missing out anything for which I choose to play an MMO).

In the past Ive only done the major quest lines, for the most part. I like to have a choice between grinding or quests. It seems atm that if you want the xp your going to quest. Kinda tic's me off. Im getting the same feeling I got while playing wow which is a little disturbing and the only reason im posting in this thread tbh... This isnt wow but it seems like the spoon fed crowd just got +5...

I don't know why you guys are complaining, this is Everquest 2. I'm glad they finally got rid of the damn 'grind yo way to cap sukka', and made questing viable. AA's were a good first step, and this is even better. Quest to 80, then you have all the heroic instances/raid zones waiting for you. It's so stupid to make a bunch of mid level heroic instances, since you'll only be 70-79 3 weeks tops, out of the year that the expansion will be active. Make most instances for 80+ so you'll have something do, instead of raping greens for 11 months.

*Don't kid yourself into thinking that the 6million+ that play WoW vs the less than 200,000 that play EQ2, is simply because it's EZMODE. Alot of WoW players are former EQ1 subscribers that left EQ2, and are there for a reason. EQ2 could learn a lot from WoW strengths.

I'm not complaining because they made questing a "viable" option. I'm complaining because they made questing the ONLY option. Also, I don't want a bunch of mid lvl instances tbh, I want the current zone, KC, Sebilis, ect. to be on par xp wise with questing.

Have any of these people bitching even tried any of the lvl 80 heroic instances? Like sebelelis, charasis, chardok, crypt of agony etc etc.

Or are you just bitching becuase seriously the HEROIC instances in ROK make the crap ass instances in EoF look like pure shit. OOB and CoV were litterly douable loot holes. The actually heroic instances in rok are LARGER, non linear, and more challenging.

For the people bitching about leveling xp/solo content who gives a flying fuck by the end of the week my entire guild will be 80. 1 week after the expansion release no one gives 2 shits about the leveling xp. Solo quests are NOT designed for raiders. Those quests are designed for joe doe and his son john to play in short bursts together. All the faction grinding quests w decent legendary gear is NOT designed for you. OUTDOOR CONTENT IS FOR SOLO.

I am quite happy they didnt take away lvl 80 instances to create USELESS 70-75 instances. Acadeism was a joke in EOF. We really did not need 5 more of those.

Ok fuck it lets break it down...

1. No shit its everquest 2.. gues what the epic quest lines fill that void for me kthx.

2. I like to grind for the most part.

3. aa's had less to do with more reward for questing than it did to make it that we all werent playing the EXACT same characters.

4. I agree I dont want alot of mid tier instances as they are useless fairly quick, I havent heard to much of whats out there for the cap, and in fairness I havent been listening much. I figure it will take me a month total after release to be 80.

5. The reason world of warcraft has more subsribers is simple, they were much more innovative in the approach of making the game, it was a better system from teh ground up than eq2. Eq2 and its engine have fallen short of expectations compared to when it was in alpha, and beta. Wow caters to the casual player and makes them hardcore, it also offers the best mix of pvp since dark age of camelot. This with the lighter system requirements and the much more popular namebrand which represents the 14-24 age market its no wonder they are over 50% of the market share for mmo's if you look closely the lineage family is in close on the world scale for market share behind wow. These games make folks with a few hours a week feel like the junkies we got here who should all be institutionalized for the amount of time they put into the game.

If you want to be spoon fed and have someone hold your hand to get all your items and all that crap like wow, please leave my mmo alone and go play one better setup for your own needs. I still wish eq2 was as hard as it was when I started playing the first febuary after release, but of course all the whiny pussys ruined that and now each server has a guild or two able to clear all content followed by a few more guilds doing everything minus the contested, followed by the majority of people trying to fill the casual hardcore crap style. If they would of kept the game a little more difficult all the players who left might still be here, we have come a long way since initial launch and soe has gotten better at alot of things. I cant say I blame them for copying a buisness model of the #1 company, but if we keep going this way im going to have to jump off the bandwagon here and find something else to do. I dont want fabled gear given to me for a solo or even group quest that is fucking retarded. I want to bleed before I get anything like that...

Anyway rant off.

I would say... maybe somewhat. The zone design in Kunark is WAY better in my opinion than any past expansion or eq2 original. WoW zone design is freakin amazing, this this is a step "towards WoW." I used to play WoW, so seeing some similarities is sort of nice for me, but at its core, eq2 is still way more complex than WoW and will never end up dumbed down (SCREW SPELL CONSOLIDATION.)
