Icon4 All Level 70 Players Should Boycott the EoF Expansion

If the end game of EQ2 implodes and raiders say enough is enough, I think that will happen by the end of December/early January.

I say that because if my guild can clear all EoF raid content in a day by the end of December, I'm done with EQ2 then for sure. From talking to dozens of hardcore raiders gamewide, I think most feel the same way.

I've been calling EoF the "three strikes and you're out" expansion for the past several months. I'm now saying I really mean that, at least regarding my plans and EQ2.

I'm astounded SoE leadership fails to see that if they release EoF in its current form, they will cause more damage to EQ2 than Gates of Discord caused EQ. The top end of this game will be gone by January, and there won't be the slightest disagreement in the MMO industry that EQ2 sucks because it has a limited, shitty end game.

The new players that EQ2 hopes to attract by the horrible strategy of dedicating most EoF content to lower level players will quickly come to the same conclusion after they level up. Eq2 will be the same as a console game - after beating all the content, sure you could do it again, but why would you want to?

After clearing Labs, Deathtoll, and similar content ~30 or more times already, we are sick and tired of KoS and shitty loot. We are not going to just keep playing old content week after week for another nine months while we wait for the expansion after EoF and hope SoE doesn't screw us a 4th time.

I have enough plat and crap loot to fully equip a small guild. I have several fabled and mastered alts. There is simply nothing left in this game for me if EoF ends up being just a day or two of raiding per week. Introducing one additional zone several months after EoF's release won't mean shit.

What the fuck were they thinking, developing over >80 percent of all new content in the expansion for players under the level cap. I spent almost an hour looking around EoF before finding a mob that wasn't grey.

Players below the level cap already have tons of content they've never seen before. If what they have isn't appealing, revamp it for Gods sake, but don't give them the substantial majority of the new expansion. All that will do is make even more empty and under-used lower level zones. We have enough empty and under-used lower level zones already, and don't need more.

1 to 2 days worth of raid content is what I'd expect from an Adventure Pack, not an expansion. That is not enough content to support the people who have most strongly supported this game for the past two years. If they want to turn this game into Toon Town, we should let them know we aren't going to bend over like chumps and take it in the ass once more. Why should we pay $39.99 for content that is worth $12.99 at most to us, when compared to an adventure pack? Why should level 70 players pay for a full expansion of grey content?

I'm sick and tired of the broken, empty promises, and I demand better than this. Shame on SoE if they release EoF like this. Shame on us if we follow along like lemmings, and just hand over our money and agree to be screwed again.

This ain't right. We should boycott EoF until SoE shows level 70 players some respect, and stops acting like we are retarded 12 year olds.

I say cancel all preorders. Do not buy EoF on the first day it goes live even, unless a substantial improvement, or at least a high level person at SoE makes an iron clad promise for an immediate change. Make SoE understand this shit isn't acceptable. We will not be VOLUNTARILY shit on again.

I no longer care what they do to me or my accounts. What I care about is this: if you just keep your preorder open and buy this shit on release day, you have ZERO right to ever complain about EoF, EQ2, or SoE again, because you knew this was being done, and you stood in line like a sheep and AGREED to it.

Stop the endless loop of SoE's complete and utter management incompetence. Stop your preorder now.

If you preordered EoF through SoE already, just click on this link:

https://store.station.sony.com/my_account.jsp

then login to your account, scroll down the page, and click the "cancel" button next to the details of your preorder.

If I didn't have an obligation to my guild I would cancel. But I do, so I cannot.

I do also.

But you don't have an obligation to your guild to preorder, and probably don't have an obligation to purchase EoF on the first day of it's release.

I'm not suggesting that anyone harm their guild. I'm only suggesting that we send a message to SoE, which is, don't preorder or use the codes on any store purchased copies of EoF on the first day of it's release.

I'm with you on that. I won't buy EoF when it first comes out even with the risk of Ringi booting my ass :P

If it improves I'd have to consider buying EoF.

But do you think by canceling your preorder (and losing 3$), that you're actually hurting or helping SOE? Sure, 3$ isn't much, but I'm sure SOE would love every raider to fork over an additional 3$.

Unfortunately, I also have an obligation to have EoF on the first day. If rumor is true, the first day will be when everyone clears most the raid zones in EoF.

I'm just saying, if it doesn't kill you, consider buying the retail version instead. That comes with an extra item. Maybe you can use a discount coupon at your store. I can at mine.

This is also my point - if everyone clears most of these zones the first day, so what? That would be like Cracatoa bragging about being first world wide to clear Lyceum, at least IMO.

I'm remembering some zone from the last two expansions where no one had defeated is after at least a month... and the raiders on the forums bitched about it. You raiders really think you'll be out of content in one day? C'mon.

I don't remember such a zone, but if it took longer than a month it was only because 3 of those weeks were used to grind to 70 -- this expansion doesn't have the luxury.

I'm guessing the hardcore guilds will be out of content by day 3.. at the latest.
