Spams have been completely nonexistent forever now, I had no trust at first that they'd be able to pull it off. Now the graying of my hotbars during spellcasts, on the other hand, is still driving me insane.

I'm always untagged (not anon/rp/whatever) and I have my spam messages off, so I don't know whether or not I get spam. Seems nobody complains any more about the spam, so it seems to have died on AB. I still do get a mail or two once in a while, but the handy dandy spam tab is there for my ignoring pleasure!

Agree, I decided to go ahead and 'trust' the spam filter (it's not perfect, but how often do your friends really need to legitimately discuss ********? :p) by unticking the spam checkbox in the chat options window, and sure enough.. I can't remember the last time I got a spam tell. It used to really annoy the hell out of me, badly, and I'm glad that I don't have to deal with it anymore - kudos indeed.
