My T8 trio right now is wizard/illusionist/warden. If it can be rooted it can die.

You never mentioned it directly, but I'm going to assume you mean for three boxing, as everyone else seems to be assuming that as well. I think it depends a little bit on if you want to play two melee or not. It also depends how much you value utility.

SK Warlock Defiler has great synergy. It also has great AoE potential. For cons in my opinion, it lacks group invis and defiler has slow cast times and poor ability to recover from group wide dmg. This can be a problem in trios. It also lacks tracking.

Bruiser, Brigand, Defiler. This combo brings tracking and group invis very early in your levels. I find group invis invaluable for getting around dungeons to tag named for AA. It also just helps for questing in general. Tracking owns too for saving time finding named. Bruiser also has a fast recast FD which makes a fairly big difference over SK's FD. You also have great debuffs with brigand and defiler combined. Cons are the same as above with defiler. It also lacks AoE. Controlling two melee can be tricky at times but I find it fun. This is my current combo.

Bruiser Brigand Warden. Won't say too much about this since except to add Wardens are awesome 3 box healers in my opinion. This combo is arguably better than with a defiler. I may switch back to it. Wardens get 45% SoW super easy (8 aa needed) and ports. This combo is truly amazing at questing and farming named faster than fast. Wardens fast cast and ability to heal group wide dmg make healing the easiest i've found so far with box'd healers. Two key strokes can take the whole group from near death to full health pretty easy.

I'm not sure what the downsides would be of these combos towards the endgame. Having a leather tank may hurt eventually, but I'm not really sure.

Some other combos I bet would be good:

Zerker Swashie Fury. I'm really curious about this combo. Similar utility except lack of FD. But eventually it will have some nice AoE dmg and also includes a plate tank. Unlike SK, Warlock, Defiler....this group has tracking and group invis.

Guardian Assassin Cleric. Not sure what the pros / cons of this combo would be, but it interests me! Certainly low utility but i bet it could handle some decent content.

I do think druids are the best for boxing in trios. Although this is personal opinion, I just think their ability to heal group wide dmg fast (as well as fast cast times in general), make them superior to some of the other choices. In a duo situation i'd say any healer can be efficient, but in a trio, when you have to worry about healing a 3rd character, I think druids get the edge. Knowing this hasn't stopped me from leveling my defiler though. I just like them.

I don't really cover combos involving chanters and bards. Personally I prefer Tank / DPS / Healer trios. In a small group i don't think those classes add enough to justify the slot. I could be wrong though.

nah fury's cant ever keep a monk up, monks get spiked too much for HoT even though fury's do high damage. And it would be too much of a pain in the ass for a monk to keep aggro off of a wizzy

Its true a monk wouldn't keep shit aggro on group mobs but strong wards would keep him alive. As for single target mobs. I dont know any mob I couldn't Duo with me on a monk and a skilled defiler at my side. And by skilled and i mean one that can let me get down to low orange hp and not heal me but just not let me loose hp. If one can do that. there isnt a class that can pull aggro off of a crane flock at 100% melee crit with melee taunt going off =)

Ya that is why people dont trust monks.

The monk has to understand how to properly play and his group mattes must trust him and not be skeptical. Football teams never ever play well when they don't Trust the Quarterback. Think about that.

If you want ez mode with group immunity to stun, stifle etc go with LFG's SK combo

SK/Fury/Dirge

SK and Fury already have great synergy, Dirge adds on with some great buffs/debuffs of his own. This group has some really great utility and survivability. Dirges are very sexy with tanks, and they are very sexy with SKs.

Plate Tank, AOEs, FD (targetable), Evac, Track, Power Regen, +Crit Buffs, 2 rezzers, 1.5 healers, Decent DPS for a trio, Ports, Group invis, Run Speed buff.

This might not be the fastest trio, but it is one of the safest to do some even-con named hunting without sacrificing too much of killing speed.

I've been 3 boxing for a while now. One of the things you really want in a 3 box set up is party invis. Fury, Brigand, Swash or Illus. Fury will give you ports, which is a nice bonus, but not essential for a 3 box. Brigand can tank, with the right AA set up. Brigand also introduces track to the party, so you can see if nameds are up, and an all important evac, for when it goes tits up.

I've been using a Defiler as the main healer for a long time; its just too easy to spam the two main wards when they are up, which takes care of most healing, plus they slow and debuff the heck out of the mobs.

Pet DPS is nice to have and Necro goes nice with the Defiler debuffs, plus it gives you FD and an emergency rez. So, Brigand, Defiler, Necro is a nice set up. Then you are only going to struggle with power ......

Thx Snow very good point I didn't mention whether I was referring to 3-boxing and Im actually not so I suppose that may change things as you don't have to worry about the difficulties of casting/CAs for three different toons. This info change anyones opinion? Sry for the lack of info. Thx again in advance.

zk, mystic dirge.... all compliment each other and are pretty indestructible

If you are 2/3 boxing you want to spend minimum amount of time on the healer and get lots of dps from tank so you have less risk pulling aggro. The heal/dps will be on af so you use the tank to get the mobs in position then rely on the tank + a lot of auto-attack from the other two to kill mobs - saves a lot of swapping around:
  • Mystic auto-attack plus grp buffs blows defiler away.... but i'm not biased honest... You don't tend to have time to cast debuffs - defiler passive debuffs would be good but not enough to make a difference in short fights
  • Zk hp regen group and self-regen works well with wards. Long cast large wards beats HoTs
  • Dirge for track, stoneskin and dps buffs + CoB to kill stuff

I 2 box a mystic/zk and mystic/dirge regularly. 3 boxing would do my head in and there isn't much that i can't kill already if i need to.
