Re: A Large-Scale Fundamental Change to EQ2
Accurate summary but that post where you flipped out was quoting something correct.
Atleast pick something that is wrong or arguable to jump on.

Re: A Large-Scale Fundamental Change to EQ2
What is funny to me is how people act like SoE/EQ2 is the only MMO with issues like zoning, itemization etc.
I for one have played WoW, Saga of Ryzom, etc and have heard similar complaints across the board. We all have our own ideas and expectations on how things should be, the simple fact is, EVERY MMO has bugs, tweeks needed, problems with gear and blah blah blah.
Consolidating classes will not solve anything as other ppl have already stated. In the end, you will still end up with ppl going down the same path with their toons, to make them exactly what they are playing now, and thus, still having the same issues.
Regardless of ppl complaining about having to many classes, those same ppl would not be happy to have there own toon screwed with in such a manner and then turn right around and start complaining about the consolidation.
The game does have things that need to be addressed, but as with all MMO's nothing is final, they are constantly changing/fixing/breaking/fixing again things. Your going to find every game to be the same in that regard.
I do like the idea that someone had about the gods playing poker LOL can't remember who, and to lazy to find it and quote it, but......changing the lay of the land bringing upon norrath havok. Uncovering shit unheard of before, and possibly rediscovering things lost...........like the BEASTLORDS!!!!!!! Yes in a post about doing away with classes, I want to add one more. LOL

Ask the person I was replying to, I was merely providing the quote I thought they were looking for. Personally, I think it's out of context, and even if it is used as a general statement without context, it doesn't particularly address the discussion at hand.

Re: A Large-Scale Fundamental Change to EQ2
I've wanted them to do a SWG2 for forever...my god, the SWG servers are wastelands.
Updated graphics, new style of play, SWG could be revived again in a all new awesome form.
They have yet todo that, thus why I doubt they'll put the resources and cost into a new EQ3 any time soon.

SOE won't be touching Star Wars again. SWG could have been a far better game if they'd dropped the Star Wars and gone with a real sci-fi sandbox type game, focusing on an in-depth economic, crafting and social system.

The star wars universe made that game great. From taming rancors to slaughtering wookiees. All they need to do is bring back the original game and fix the issues with action and mental attacks/combat medics. Some how that fix turne dinto the CU and they hit that slippery slope in full stride.
There was rumor for a while that some third party was going to be opening a pre-cu server... I wonder what happened to that plan.

I disagree - I thought SWG never really had much of a Star Wars feel to it. Perhaps this changed, but when I played, right at launch, the game seemed far more focused on things like crafting and housing than on the Galactic Civil War and the sort of swashbuckling space-opera Star Wars is famous for.
Now, I have no problem with the sort of sandbox style game Raph Koster wanted, but I also don't feel it really worked with the Star Wars universe. Had they not gone with the Star Wars title, it would have removed certain expectations people had about the game, while allowing SOE to pursue it's one ideas without worrying about satisfying Lucas Arts and legions of Star Wars fans.
On top of that, choosing the time period they did - right in the middle of ANH to ESB severely limited what the devs could do with the story line, and really gave me a sense of futility. In other words, every knows how the story ends, so it's hard to create any sort of sense that the Empire is a real threat or that player actions will have an impact on the outcome of the GCW. Had they picked a different time, like the founding of the Republic or maybe the Sith Wars era, they could have done a lot more with the story.

Re: A Large-Scale Fundamental Change to EQ2
Bioware is making a Starwars MMO. No point in SOE trying any more really.
