Default Tinkering

I wonder what types of things you will actually be able to make from tinkering?
perhaps rebreathers, fireworks, cybernetic implants... ok nvm on the implants.
For a higher level tinkerer, I would hope that make you can create a temporary pet that will fight for you until it dies. An expendable crafted item that is a pet... I think that would be a nice high end ability to a tinkerer.
any thoughts on what they could create that would have some use?

I've heard a few people say that tinkerers can create a special kind of mount... can anyone confirm this?

An enchanter epic weapon without subjugation is like a Buckeyes T-shirt without the colors scarlet and gray.

It would be nice if they did it somewhat like Tinkering in AC1.
Sort of like Enchanting in WoW.

For those who don't know. Tinkering in AC (Asherons Call) was basically a skill where a crafter could attempt to improve the stats/dmg/procs etc of a Weapon or Piece of armor.

You needed 100 crafting materials to attempt a tinker. Crafting materials came from Destroying item drops. For instance destroying what would be equivalent to a legendary from HoF would give you maybe 2-3 steel. 100 steel would allow you to attempt to raise the damage on your weapon by 1 based on your crafting skill. If you fail you lose all the steel if you pass you up the damage by 1. There was also some kind of cap to how much you could improve an item, don't remember how it worked but I think it was something like 2-3 tinkers was max. Kind of similar to LDoN stuff in EQ with the slots.

I remember seeing this somewhere, but I don't recall offhand where. Then again, it was a while back and things change. It'd be nice, either way. I'd also guess it wouldn't have too many perks, unless it required some rare rare items.

Anyone know how all this is going to work? If I'm maxed as a crafter, can I do tinkering also, or do I need to start a new toon for this craft?

They said the new TS things were skill based, like harvesting so probably whatever your highest adv/craft level is determines how high it can be leveled as well. I would assume they would be leveled up the same, and they did mention that you will be able to have them in addition to your normal crafter.

As far as I know it is a secondary skill based on your crafting level but you will still need to grind it up. I'm pretty short on details, though. Any crafting class can have either tinkering or transmuting. They really need to make tinkering worthwhile for anyone to choose it over transmuting.

It's a secondary skill, so you'll be able to do it on LFG or whatever crafter you want to choose to do it on. Think of it like harvesting, or EQ1 crafting. From what they've said, it's a skill based system which I'm guessing you'll gain skill as you make items (can't confirm this part, but it's guessing on my end) reminds me of EQ1 personally, and that isn't all too bad.
