So with that said, if you remove contested you'd hurt EQ2Flames, and no one wants to hurt this site, do they?

The site is a release valve for drama that needs to happen and for outlining shit that cannot be tolerated any further, but that doesn't mean I enjoy drama or look forward to taking time to describe or argue about broken shit.
I will note that feelings of many about contesteds haven't been truly tested yet because their contesteds haven't truly been contested yet. Not having to get up in the middle of the night for a spawn is only a luxury, and I can see a lot of you don't understand that. All it takes is one good Asian/Australian guild to coldly skullfuck your idealism. If your server doesn't have one today, it just well might tomorrow. And you really can't hide; when they're done taking your post-midnight spawns, they try to take your afternoon ones too.
To say nothing of the stupid fucking inter-guild bitter rivalries that are inevitable if anyone even has a drop of pride. They trickle down to pressure "moral" questions such as, "Should I group with this cool person from the other guild if it means they'll get an uber item and make them more powerful so they can KILL OUR CONTESTEDS?"
If you believe in your heart that contested content is the way to go, then Nagafen will take you closer to that and sort you out and brand you as Legit or as a Fucking Poseur. Otherwise you're sitting here arguing with PvE players about bizarre shades of gray and demanding the unique right to plow through content everyone else has to struggle through, with stoneskin boots and max recast speed and ae avoid procs.
And as for leaving the game for one where the conditions are to our liking? Well who wouldn't? But what is the title of that game, and do I lose more by going there than staying here, struggling for the optimal distraction a few hours each evening?
