Re: Should contested Epics even be bothered with?
Fuck it.
Alesis.
You're a self proclaimed filmographer for video games.
You self admittedly carry around a gaming/video editting computer everywhere you go so you can get in game or edit your video game movies.
You have applied to every top guild apparently saying you were going to be available 24/7 due to taking that computer everywhere.
You are not in a top guild as of posting on these threads and with the way you post on these threads never will be.
You applied to all of those guilds trying to get in the mix on contested and top end raid content.
You said you were looking to not be a true member of anyone's raid force, but more of a back up who just sits there and filters out loot.
You grow angry and frustrated when you and your fellow apps to a guild got chewed out for sucking, for not doing what a raid leader had told you to do.
For fucks sake alesis.
Do you think people are that stupid?
You are completely transparent, you're a wannabe who got turned down.
Now that you have been turned down, you are trying to get the big kids who said you can't play with them toys taken away because it would make YOU feel better knowing that if YOU can't compete why should they.
Get the fuck out, just Go Home.
You're a two bit loser trying to create some sort of communist equality for all players because you were shunned.
Stop trying.
You will never win because you're throwing a jealous temper tantrum.
Keep paying for that subscription though, We need every sand bag player like you to keep SoE developers paid.

Re: Should contested Epics even be bothered with?
Not a late revelation.
Something that was brought up in the thread Alesis started a few weeks ago asking the point of top end play.
That thread didn't grow so large because people slapped it down instead of giving the Alesis and Co idiots bait to feed on.

Why argue with him? It really is pointless as he is totally wrapped up in his own world. Sit back and just make fun of him for spending his $$$ on a game he hates. It's really easy to do and he has zero defense for it. Well other then stepping up and admitting he's a foolish consumer that purchases things without knowing what he bought. Oh you can make fun of him for that also

Re: Should contested Epics even be bothered with?
Actually, what the post said was, as did the applications I put out:
I cannot invest the playtime you guys do, however I do have a laptop I use for my recording and editing purposes. I am available 24/7 to pop in and film something. but as far as being a permenant member of a raid force, Im sorry I just dont have the time. I am lucky enough to be able to stop whatever Im doing for a cool kill, and get in and film it, but as for the long hours required to master that shit, my real life time commitments wont allow it. If HOWEVER you would like someone who can fairly competantly make eq2 movies to film you shit, then Id be glad to provide that service. I then went on to say, I dont really care about loot even, though if you where to filter some trash loots noone else doesent want my way, it would prolly be an upgrade for me, since my gear fucking blows.
What reply did I get, from ALMOST every high end guild I asked? (except the one on my server, who ironicly, turned me down respectfully) a polite "no ty?"
FUCK NO- I got this: Fuck off you fucking n00b, noone wants a dirge who cant commit to 25+ hours a week, and who doesnt strive to be the best at this video game in the world. We are the elite, we dont need anyone whos not commited their life to EQ2 domination.
No respect, no decency. And that got me to wondering.....wtf? why the elitest attitude? Even if these arrogant cock jobs are better at me than this, why out of all the hobbies in the world do these guys have no common decency? Would an NBA star tell a kid who asked him to play horse on a public playground "Fuck off bitch, Im pro level you fucking gimp?" Somehow I doubt it.
So I found it quite interesting to see that on EQ2 flames, almost any topic that involves high end raiding, the super elite have this crazy "if you dont agree with us, your a fucking idiot" attitude pertaining to all things almost.
Someone said, should contested be bothered with? And I was like "not really, its kinda retarded only 1% of the people get to play the best shit when we all pay the same fee, and HOLYWTFBBQ, the contested came out of the woodwork like cockroaches to smack that shit down.
No matter how many times you try to explain the side of the casual player, you get crazy illogical responses, like "read the box dipshit!, it says contested killing right there! if you dont like it, dont buy it!" (I broke out my box when I got home and looked at it. Maybe I bought a different version than you, but mine doesnt say "contested" on it anywhere)
Why all this attitude in this genre? And then my buddy at the office enlightened me:Cause its not real. Its not the NBA, its not the NFL. Its a bunch of dudes with poor social skills trying to matter in some way, some where.
So I guess, in a way, you guys are right. In EQ2, Im a punk. A badly geared whiny bitch who thinks that his $15 is as good as your $15. A crying gimp who feels that his time investment is as good as your time investment.
Twist this post around to mean shit it doesnt all you want, I can argue my point anymore, because Ive come to the realization that no matter what you say, these same people with these same attitudes are going to feel entitled to being server dominating bullies forever, and no matter how much you try to argue your point, its like talking to a brick wall.
Lets pick another topic, this one has grown boring.

It seems a guild will completely abandon a server, and go somewhere where this is no competiton.
If that is all that people really want, to dominate the spawn....then why the heck not make it instanced?
|
I think that is hitting the nail on its head. Back in EQ1 all of the content were contested, even the "instanced" zones had nameds pop, and there were so many mobs that it was always something up to kill, but still, the high end guilds would always lock down content, because if they could own the spawn, they would gear themselves up and then continue to kill the spawn to cockblock anyone else from getting geared, so that when a new expansion was out, they could yet again get a head start and lock it all down over again, rinse and repeat.
Locking down mobs is a way to make sure you are on top of the world on your server, and competitors have a choice to sit there 2nd best or just move to a server where they themselves can lock down shit.
I dont think contested mobs is a problem at all, but the problem in EQ2 is that once a guild locks down contesteds for 6 months and a new expansion is released, the majority of the content is adapted to to a mix of gear from the previous tear and the new gear from leveling up to make it challenging, the guilds that walk around in full contested suits will be over-qualified for the new content and plow through it in no time and then yet again locking down contested content. Meanwhile all the other guilds have to face the content the way it was ment to be faced, struggle through it and work hard to beat it all, and when done, contesteds is out of reach, come new expansion and the same system is rinsed and repeated.
Contested lockdown trivialise the future content for the guilds in question and it becomes an endless circle of "instanced raidzones is boring and not challening" and they are just means to take down more contesteds.
If you instead of removing contested mobs, adjusted the loot tables so that the drops did not make instanced drops look like treasured shit in comparisment, the advantage obtained from killing contesteds would not be so great, and would probably result in the following up content become as challenging as it was designed to be.
Extreme example: Deck your guild with t8 quest/groupinstanced gear and all A3s, then start at T1 and re-equip your guild as you work through the tiers, and trivial shit will all of a sudden become pretty much a challenge
Anyways, good post this.

Re: Should contested Epics even be bothered with?
Your money is just as good, your time invested is the same.
You have the same access to the same content.
You do not take advantage or find the opportunity to take advantage of it.
Your attitude, your lies in the application, your unwillingness to participate as a team member all contribute to your lack.
Blame no one but yourself.
If you don't want to put forth the effort to take advantage of the content available to you at the same cost as everyone else, then be happy with the content you experience with the effort you are willing to spend.
An exact quote from your advertisement here, which is either the original or a copy/paste of what you sent to guilds:

Funny how that is not included in what you posted right there, yet is available on this website to disprove you.
Combine this with the plethora of vehement posts you have made and continue to make saying how you do NOT want to be available to play more than very casually and still get the rewards and you get some serious pathological lying to either everyone on the website about what you want to do, or to the guilds about your actual intent
You go on to say, on this very website, about how you will not be their best dirge, show no interest to be and want to bottom feed off of their scrap loot.
Seriously, what kind of guild would want that kind of fucking loser?
Stop with the excuses and temper tantrums bitch, this thread only got boring when I decided enough was enough and ended your bullshit parade.

Exactly. All those people who spout the "we do it for the competition" are lying to themselves and everyone else. With the exception of a few, most servers are 1 guild having everything on lock, and thats the way they like it. If people were really about the "competition" as they claim, they would be moving their guild to a server with a powerhouse WW guild. Not running away from them, so they can get there own server to dominate, as so many have done in the past.

-------------------------
Actually, Heres the thread, minus the pictures:
Hi Im Alesis.
I have been playing EQ2 since its release, off and on, and I am looking for a guild. I have sort of a unique situation, and a rather unique offer for the right guild, if your interested:
I have been playing EQ since EQ1 was released, and up and thru EQ2 as well. However, EQ is not my first love. My first love is making music and videos. I have been making music for about 15 years, and a few years back, got into making videos too.
I own a complete digital audio/video editing studio, and have developed quite the obsession with making EQ movies. I spend alot of time doing this, and really enjoy it.
I am currently looking to find a guild on any server capable of killing seriously end game stuff, like Avatars etc, so that I can film it, and make movies about your uber exploits. I understand these videos must be edited sometimes so as not to give up mob strats etc, and Im willing to pass projects past an officer or guild leader etc for approval before publishing them.
I want to make something clear: I will not be your most uber dirge. I will not top your Dirge parse probably, nor will I be the best geared Dirge in your guild, even though I am mostly fabled out currently. Honestly, I could give a shit less about loots, I just want to make movies, maybe score a few quest updates when I can. I will be perfectly content to bottom feed off of the scrap loots that noone wants etc, because thats not what motivates me. I like to film, period. I wont attend every raid, and I wont take up raid spots more than neccesary. Im the cameraman, and you only need me in there long enough to get the film, kill shot etc, and then Im out. On contested mobs, it wont even be neccesary to have me in the raid, I can do all my work outside of it. Not to say that I cant get in there and debuff my ass off, or spam COB till I die, and still film, or that I cant pay attention and focus when needed, Im just trying to say that I prefer a sort of 3rd string position. After all, who doesnt need a back up Dirge? I am available and on call for EQ2 24/7/365. You can always call me on my cell for an immediate log in. I carry an Alienware laptop around at all times ready to go, cause Im a geek like that.
---------------------------------------
Selective editing FTW PSaint.
Let me clarify for you what you obviously didnt understand since big paragraphs seem to be hard for you to comprehend.
I want to make something clear
I could give a shit less about loots, I just want to make movies, maybe score a few quest updates when I can.
I wont attend every raid, and I wont take up raid spots more than neccesary. Im the cameraman, and you only need me in there long enough to get the film, kill shot etc, and then Im out.
Im just trying to say that I prefer a sort of 3rd string position.
I am available and on call for EQ2 24/7/365. You can always call me on my cell for an immediate log in. I carry an Alienware laptop around at all times ready to go, cause Im a geek like that.
-------------------------------------
I think I was quite clear in stating that I dont have the playtimes required, and that I was offering my services as a cameraman more than as a raid dirge. I think I was also quite clear in the fact that I wasnt interested in loots, but if some scraps fell off the table Id take it, after all, who wouldnt? If I invest 35 hours into making an EQ2 movie, is it worth table scraps?
The 15 or so guilds who sent me tells considering my offer seemed to understand, whats your problem?
See, Ive been at the top of the server game, and been in the guild who dominated shit, got world firsts and ganked contested epics from everyone else, (Tier 6, begining of Tier 7) and I still thought then, as I do now, that if that shit was instanced, everyone would have a fair shot, not he who was available to raid at 3am, 10am, and 4pm. Ive been on an on call available list, and Ive logged in at midnight when I got a phone call from my guild leader.
Now that Im on the other side of that fence, it still seems clear to me.
Instance = problem solved.
Pat yourself on the back all you want, I could selectively edit a bunch of your posts to say anything I want too. Your no great debater, youve not put the smack down, you just took selective parts of a post and twisted it to make it look like it said something it did not.
Perfect example of how you can sit around and delude yourself your smarter than everyone else, when in reality, your a cheap fucking gimp trying to use parlor tricks to prove your a god.
You wanna end my bullshit parade? Clean my fucking toilet faggot, cause your debate skills are lacking.

Re: Should contested Epics even be bothered with?
I didn't selectively edit anything.
As you have been informed numerous times by numerous people.
I quoted the pertinent information. If you do not understand the difference you are too stupid to be accepted to the guilds you were turned down for, disregarding the lack of will to do anything required of someone in those guilds.
If you say 24/7/365 then go on to say everywhere else that you do not have the playtime, then what exactly is that? Which one is the truth and which the lie?
You can't answer without proving every point made.
Man up and admit it, or slink away like a little bitch.
I'm betting on another round of quote and cry evasions.
You're a nothing in game so you cry for people who do things you aren't willing to put forth the effort for to have content removed from them.
Wait.
Thats not right.
You only started these temper tantrums after being turned down by those people.
You can have a deluge of evasive bullshit in every post, but you cannot deny that.
Try again to avoid the issue.
It may actually distract someone this time.
Your bullshit parade has been rained on, you're too stupid to even have a semi decent retort and use some pathetic reference to cleaning a toilet for you.
How weak.
EDIT:
Saying I selectively edited something is saying I changed what it was, I combined what it was with something else to make it read differently.
That did not happen.
I quoted a single sentence in its entirety.
Just so you can't cry about how quoting pertinent information is actually selective editing.
