Sure, I understand the race to 80 for some people is part of their competitive drive. I also understand that people have some pride in killing mobs first. What I'm not convinced of is that the mobs needed to be contested for this drive to be satisfied.

Some people have commented about some heroic named, and draw parallels. That's interesting, and something I have alluded to before here. What if the same people, every time, killed the same guys? You'd call them farmers, botters, and say they were disrupting the server/zone, whatever. If people do it to a raid mob, it seems to be praised, and admired. I'm not at all certain what the difference is.

What makes this interesting, is that again, his guild is one of the biggest complainers of contested. Now, as someone pointed out, that only makes sense, since they are the ones experiencing it. However, I doubt he meant he needed an all out self guild PvP event every day, sinec that is how that actually comes out.

Another note, and again, something I alluded to before. People here keep talking about the competive drive, and that is what makes the game. I will again express doubt.

It would be fantastically easy for these self professed competitors to go onto a server, and have the EQ2 Olympics that they all seem to want. Heck, make it totally competitive, do it on the underpopulated PvP server. As someone mentioned previously in this thread, leveling is fantastically easy, so getting yourself up to lvl 80 (and wouldn't THAT be a fun competition as well with the other HC guilds with you!!). The fact that none do, (at least, none to my knowledge), and in fact do the absolute opposite, speaks volumes.

My guess is, it speaks volumes to SoE as well, which is why you see so few contested.

why dont you go to the empty PVP server pretended the contested there are instanced and stfu

oh and PS both my guild Xanadu and also defiant vie for contested on my server so the competetive drive is a valid point

The only thing interesting about what you said was that you found it interesting. Thanks for the newsflash john madden no shit the people who complain about contested are the ones doing them. And no I didn't mean pvp I meant actually kill you and hoped you dropped some piece of shit fabled I could transmute and mail the money to your family at a penny a day so they could be constantly reminded that there was dumbass in the gene pool and to be wary of succumbing to it.

I have been in a contested lock down guild for about 2 years now. The year i played before that i was on grobb which contested were dominated by another guild. I think Malice lost 2 contested all of t5. It was seeing the way that the other guild operated that made me want to be a better player and be in a better guild. Even tho i wasn't killing contested it was still content i got to see and was what drove me to reach for more then i had. No matter how far fetched stealing their contested was, it was still what kept many of us logging in night after night to farm the same 5 1-2 mob instances for a chance at metal chest.

Tho most servers have that 1 guild that locks contested down early, they are still there as motivating factors that keep 2,3,4 and 5 guilds on a server striving to improve there gear and skill till they can take on contested. It is the goal that few will ever reach but most strive for. It is that goal that keeps you farming instances. If not for contested why farm after you beat the final instance boss ? You might as well roll the credits at that point since there is no farther to progress.

Lol- outside, in the zone some of us refer to as "The Real World", this is fucking hillarious. I have 3 people in my office who play EQ2, and we all had a good solid laugh at this for most of the day.

Im not on a holy war against uber guilds, I just think its fucking retarded that some uber guilders feel like theyre better than others cause they log in at 3am, and spend 10 hours a day playing a video game. Seriously, its a VIDEO GAME wtf lol!

Whatever though, if self actualization to you is achieved by dominating a digital world (which you dont own) by your digital toon (which you dont own) by killing a digital mob (which you dont own), then I guess who am I to judge right?

Try this for me. Next time your outside (youll know its the outside cuz theres a big ball of light above you that hurts your eyes) try and explain to someone, anyone, how bad ass it is to have 7 accounts. When they ask you wtf is EQ2, and you explain it, try, just try, to explain to them how important EQ2 is, and how fucking supremly cool you are for being Teh D0minat0r of your server.

Chicks will want to fuck you, and dudes will want to be you, I promise. Its like, the next best thing to rock stardom....
