it's fine, you dont have to like it. it is not like eq2 and my point is that eq2 cannot "copy" wow since they basically lack talent to develop anything and lack the balls to take risks.
rok looks like an effort to not get fired. I dunno, eof seemed little bit more thought out.

WoW was about as risk-free as you can get with an MMO.
SOE, on the other hand, has taken risks - Station Exchange was a risk, as was LoN, and both have paid off well. SOE's upcoming releases continue this trend.

yes, both immensily risky. it's like they bet the company on it. but the payoff, oh the payoff....

Station Exchange led to a 30% reduction in customer support call volume, along with a few hundred thousand dollars a year in extra revenue. That's a pretty big success. When SOE released the Station Exchange White Paper in early 2007, the overall reaction from the MMO community was that the Exchange was a major success. The reduction in CS call volume alone is huge.
So far, from what I've read on LoN, the reaction among the MMO community seems generally positive, and SOE is seen as an innovator by integrating LoN with both EQ and EQ2.

Re: Maybe its just me
eq2 has constantly made changes to the game since DOf that effect the long time player
Class rebalancing
removal of shards
increased exp, reduced debt , from release till Dof the Majority of the game was not capped at lvl 50 with just One character , let alone a lvl 50 player with a lvl 50 tradeskiller!!!, now people can be level 80 within 3 months of very casual play
comat revamp
aa revamp
Soga models
Camps,Names, quests,Hq's made easier/shorter,Ph's that give quest updates
LON
etc, etc,,
and now Rok
Soe's attitude towards the long time player in eq2 has always been " we already have you ,chances are small you will leave if we spread out these changes slowly over the course of updates and expansions, and turn the game into something completly diffrent then you purchased " and eq2 is not anywhere near the same game it was at release!
(server mergers)
if Eq2 took every change , revamp, rebalance, shard removal, quest>Group exp and had added everyone of them to the game in 1 major update , IMO you would have seen a Mass exodus of players, so they keep adding in the small changes slowly overtime so that on the surface eq2 looks like the same game, when in fact under the surface the wow changes have been entering eq2 slowly since DOF, and people have been leaving the game steadlily as every change, update turns the game into something those people didnt purchase and ruins the game for them
i also have been seeing ALOT of long time players stop loging in, the most notable one for me is a friend who has 5 lvl 70 characters and they soloed most of them to 70, and they disappeared for weeks, logged in and i asked them where they have been they replied" i took a break, i just got sick of all the solo quests and nobody wanting to do anything else but the solo quests" seemed like an oxymoron to me but when you think about it it makes sense becuase i also am sick to hell of solo quests in ROK.
on my main i have played since release 100+ people on my friends list(not including any alts) , at most 8 to 12 people on the list log in and only 8 of them regularly
eq2 realy should just at this point be it's own game and stop chasing wows tail as they have been for years, if people want to play wow they just go play it , it realy is that simple, Eq2 should be a diffrent game ,its own game, so people have chioces of Diffrent types of games instead of all games being the same wow clone.
Example of games being the same but difrent , would be Grand Tourismo to Need for Speed to Grand theft Auto to Mickey Mouse Go-Cart racing , all these games have Driving in them and they all Play ,look, sound, feel, challange in totaly diffrent ways even tho they all have driving in them as there Main gameplay , if they all played Exactly the same there is no reason to try them all becuase if you tried the one you have played them all , and Eq2 needs to be to WOW what Need for Speed is to Mickeys Go-cart Racing and THEN they would see the people flock to Eq2 becuase even tho both games are FUN , need for speed is a vastly superior game in every way even tho at the core they are similar they both revolve around driving
Dev's at Eq2 should be creative and innovative and make Eq2 into its own Identity instead of copy cat sell outs, Since DOF none of there Changes have brought the masses and have only served to slowly chip away at the longtime players in exchange for a tiny trickle of new players
we all know right now the Devs are working on the next project and the Next Small change to eq2 to make it more WoWified. ALOT of people were burnt out on eq2 at 70 , and 80 so fast for the majority+ the solo questing from hell , IMO eq2 could see more and more people burning out fast with this crappy ROK change to the Endgame!
P.S. just to say it again, if i want to play wow i just go buy it and play it , i dont need eq2 to turn into wow so i can play wow , and why leave WOW if eq2 is just a cheep copy of it ?
anyway SOE has there DATA so they must know what they are doing : )
