Wonder what the results of this poll would be if it were started over today.
You called it Aduros and the last laugh is rightfully yours.

So, where were we on this? I personally think more devs should join high end raiding guilds and fuck up more often. This has been hands down some of the best I told you fucking so, bitch slapping sessions I've seen in a while. Keep up the great shitty work devs, and for those with devs in thier guilds, keep suckin' that dev dick.

Yeah, I think they should be allowed to play the game and join raiding guilds, as long as they don't tell anyone they are devs

Oh and I also think communism is the best form of government!

nice in theory, big no no in practice
and in both cases we have evidence (not just eq2)

Well it looks as though this thread turned out to be quite prophetic in light of recent events.

I'll have to go with the NO option as it appears the temptation to leak strats is just too great, creating a conflict of interest in it's wake. The risk of reputational damage far outweighs anything gained by having Devs run with a player guild. EVE Online is still trying to recover from a similar issue that was revealed last year. After being the pinnicle of free market and player controlled industry of the MMO universe EVE took a severe hit in the credibility department when it was revealed that a Dev was helping out a certain corp.

All it takes is one incident to be labeled negatively for some time to come. It's simply not worth it and it's not good business.

Wonder if SOE will do the right thing and perform an internal investigation into dev corruption or if they will just brush all this under the desk and wait till it goes away. If they had any integrity and wanted to prove to the gaming community they honestly care about their image, they would do the investigation and publish the results. But, who are we kidding here? We got a bunch of geeks out there, needing acceptance and will do anything to fit in with the cool kids (in their eyes). They'll continue to do this, get hit on by their in guild out of shape gamer geek chicks and feel like gods, go home, jerk off to the seriously outdated pictures submitted by those same chicks to eq2flames contests, imagining that's how they look like that now, and keep doing what they are doing. Their fucking bosses don't give a shit cause at this point in this game, there is nothing to save, so an investigation would be useless.

I am always for the benefit of the doubt but shit like this makes everyone questionable in my mind now tbh.

LOL they will just brush it under the rug, devs will stay where they are, and do what they have been doing all along. Heres a post by Noobrin to prove it...

Yes folks, devs play EQII.

Depending on the circumstances, they use raid-guilds to test raid content. There's simply no way to truly test high-end content without the use of guilds that intimately know raiding and other high-end content. This is not bad ethics, this is testing content. If you wish to speak of this, please contact your local admin (me) and leave bashing the developers out.

~Gnobrin

I guess askin guilds that dont have devs in them to come beta test durin that time isnt considered testin. Why dont these Live dev guilds move to Test? Cause its clear they are a testin guild, even by soe standards.

I just had a thought.

If devs played on Nagafen rather than PVE servers, at least nobody would be able to send them cross server tells, regardless of whether their identity was known.

I'm very public on Nagafen, my player name is Bish.

I'm frequently targetted just because of who I am on this site. I'm frequently burned by the MA in group PVP even when that isn't the best decision for the opposing group.

Why should devs be any different.

Devs should play their games.

But, in my opinion, they should form the DEV guilds.

I don't mind having a devs guild versus players guild. And I am sure, that even without the strats, the Hardcore guild would simply beat the DEVS guild all time.

Should be a dev only guild tho (with GM staff and all).
