No, having a dev in your raid guild is an unfair advantage.

There should already be a clause in place that outlines their conduct in this game. So we the players don't have to come out and tell them.
It's as simple as that, if they wanna be in raid guilds or w/e, then let them. It's Their game, we just play it.
And tbh from what I've read it doesn't seem like an issue that ppl quit over, I mean I've never heard someone say "Dev X is in guild B, it's so unfair imma /wrist."
So for the guilds that clear content w/o dev help, more power to ya.
And for the guilds that clear content w/ dev help, cool beans.
Let's leave it at that lol.

While thats your opinion, and your entitled to it, but I have to strongly disagree. I'm a pretty competitive person by nature, and loved sports in high school. For me personally, I just can't agree with the 'eh, oh well cheating happens, nothing u can do' attitude. If officials were caught tampering in any of our games, there would have been a shit storm. Sure, I imagine a few kids would have been like 'oh well', but those that really put in the time and effort would have felt cheated, to say the least.
Hardcore Raiding is extremely competitive by nature, it's no place for someone who has that kind of influence over the game. It places your guild in a position of a clear, unintended advantage over those without devs.

haha nice hulk pic.
just a few counterpoints.
1) 1% of 1% was a mistake. an exaggeration. it's not literal.
2) even the best guilds have to work their way to the top. they've gotta crunch through all the other encounters to be able to kill avatars.
3) if your dev is in an average or more casual raiding guild, then they don't experience the contested content in the same way, so they miss out on the high end... which is what the most passionate gamers on this site seem to hold most dear.

Re: Should EQ2 Developers Be Allowed To Join Raid Guilds?
Here's another thing to consider... what if the Dev is not the BEST player out there for that slot on the raid... but he or she DOES have the inside knowledge that the raid guild covets. In a system where competency is supposed to be the determining factor, is it fair for a more competent player to lose out to a Dev because of the unfair advantage a Dev can bring to the table?

1)True, it may not have been literal, but it gives you a sense of how they view the hardcore raiding community.
2)GuildLeader: Damn this taking forever, those adds are raping us...
IamnotAerelik:Hey...why don't we try pulling it to that wall, and using these Wolfsbane I found.
GuildLeader: lawl, why would we need a stupid plant on Mayong?
IamnotAerelik: I dunno...just a hunch.
Don't forget the most time consuming part of raiding is developing a strat. Once you have the strat down, the execution is simple.
3)If you run a constructive Beta, there should be no need to go and retest the content with your live guild, just to fix issues. If there are problems that arise on when the xpac is launched, use the Test Server.

What are you, 32 now? Still petting animals, baby-feeding your grandfather ground up Taco-Bell, living at home, spending every fucking penny you have on computer games and shit, and still universally determined to be a complete moron?
Between your attempts at witty humor and your extremely erratic sense (but it does come, I will say that), do you ever stop to actually think about the subject at hand, or are you pulling this all out of a lottery hopper?
EQ2 devs are notoriously corrupt. Lockeye was beyond horrible. He's as corrupt as you're an oxygen-stealing window-licker. Aeralik is just as bad and he's a clingy skinny shit that swings from the nuts of people since he cannot stand on his own (anyone see the leash he was on at Fan Faire? Was funny shit seeing him following people around like a wounded puppy). People are fed up with it. I honestly think this TEST issue is minor compared to underlying problem that the Devs are WAY too involved in making the rules AND playing the game. Yeah, everyone wants them to have an idea of how the game works, wants them to have first hand knowledge, etc. However, if they know, much better than you obviously Gaige, what is coming outta the hopper, then who really wants to play?
In the end, you have to all ask and answer this for yourselves:
Do I want to buy lottery tickets for the Governor and his cronies to win all my money with, and I get the $5 jackpot on a Scrath-Off every year, or do I want to play fair? Do you wanna keep paying SOE so their employees can suck the cocks of every guildleader at the top end and make a "name" for themselves, or do you wanna participate in something fair?
You're teacher would never let you write your own tests and compete against the class. Its called an "uneven footing" at best, and in truth its just plain unfair, cheating, and corrupt.
At the heart of SOE is a business, and I imagine there are quite a few MBAs, and probably even a few JDs. They don't just have business ethics, they literally study them for years. They aren't even allowed to practice their trade without a firm knowledge rooted in thousands of years of Ethics developed by men much wiser than any of us.
Blizzard, and I'd wager most other MMO companies, realize that the core to any good business is trust. In an MMO, trust is an even more fundamental factor. Not only do you have to trust the company to deliver the product you've paid for, you have to trust that they'll continue to maintain it, continue a resemblance of play that you invested time and money into, continue to enforce rules evenly across all players, continue to maintain integrity in the economy, playerbase, and yes, their own employees.
It is amazingly easy to shatter your integrity and have people lose faith in you as a business. Honestly, MMOs are closer to casinos than any other type of business. We gamble away hours of our life every week in the hope that it will be rewarded. Just sad that once we finally roll all Cherries the rules have changed, and all Cherries isn't what it used to be...but ah, the devs and their buddies already knew that!
Gaige, if you want to make light of this or deflect attention away from your buddies and their obvious bullshit, be my guest. However, I think the bulk of the people here that pay for EQ2 have seen what is going on and aren't just waiting for the next thing anymore. Hell, come March next year, they won't need to wait. Conan might not be in the hands of the brightest devs on earth (although it does show great promise), but at least they've not given anyone reason to think we'll spend 2 - 3 years working toward those Cherries just for those Cherries to mean nothing once we finally hit em.

While I agree that Locke was green corn-filled shit, I have to disagree with you on Aeralik. Aerelik has been nothing but a breath of fresh air. He's been quick to respond to and fix issues, he's on these forums almost 24/7 and very knowledgeable about the game mechanics as a whole. The fact that he's open to suggestions and actually listens to the playerbase puts him miles above Lockeye. I think he's been doing an amazing job, and yes, pardon me while I remove my lips from his ass. I could careless what he looks like or does in RL, just as long as he keeps up the good work with my game... And stays the fuck away from raid guilds
While I have nothing personal against the devs, I believe when its comes to games like these, theres a line that shouldn't be crossed. Devs in those raid guilds crosses that line.

Re: Should EQ2 Developers Be Allowed To Join Raid Guilds?
Pretty damn universally agreed that Dark Elves, the race Aeralik plays, got a huge bump compared to everyone else with the Racial Revamp. Before that, I had nothing against him. That was beyond suspect, however.

Nope, not even 31 yet. I'm still working for my family business, yup. However I'm not feeding my grandfather much of anything, he passed away some time ago. I do still live at home and probably always will. I don't spend much of my money at all on computer games, my mom takes care of all of those costs for me. Most of my money just gets saved. I'm lucky like that. I'm almost universally determined to be awesome, witty, hilarious and normally correct. Things you are incapable of mirroring and therefore can't comprehend.
Are you still a liar who lives at home trying to be someone he is not and conning the US government out of money due to self inflicted injuries so you can sit around all day playing MMOs and acting holier than thou? Just curious.

I don't think this even needs clarification, as my posts were all pretty concise and on-topic.

This is all just self invented conspiracy theories from you like normal. Trying to act like you know more shit than you actually know and trying to be more important and informed than you are.
EQ2 has had a few minor dev conspiracies, but nothing that really matters in the grand scheme of things. I never knew Lockeye to be corrupt and Aeralik seems on the up and up to me as well.
For instance, despite the outcries of the opposite, in the grand scheme of things the dark elf racials don't really matter.
I have no idea what makes you think I'm an oxygen stealing window licker, and I also cringe at the hypocrisy of you talking shit about me living at home... afterall it was in your mother's house at age 27 that you were jacking off in your sweaty boxers under a box fan in the trailer park dreaming of Nitatzu, was it not? Of course it was. With your purposefully broken foot propped up on a table so you could get out of the military and still receive a check because unlike me, you're in denial about being a lazy fuck reject who just wants to sit around playing games all day. At least I know who I am and don't try to act like GI Joe on the outside while fabricating numerous lies about my life and my accomplishments to impress a bunch of people I play EQ2 with. You've been married, divorced (numerous times), attended college, worked at Microsoft, Blizzard and been in the military twice (and suffered self inflicted injuries twice!!) and yet you spend tons of time online posting on forums about games and playing games, much like I do.
WTB some truth Jody, do you know how to be honest, just curious.

I see right through this tirade... all this amounts to is more whining from you because your guild is lackluster. You fail at shit other guilds steamroll and you blame everything but yourself and your inability to lead raids. Even when Amend was on the cusp, it was in spite of you and not because of you. You don't have what it takes to be a successful hardcore raider and the guilds you're a part of suffer because of it.
That would remain true whether or not devs played this game or guilds beta tested raid content.
So just accept it.
Just for reference I deleted the three paragraphs that showcased you acting like you know anything at all about what it takes to run a successful business. If you had posted three paragraphs about how to hurt yourself and get out of a military contract while still receiving pay and benefits, I'd have QFT but alas, you didn't.

Ah here we go, the summation includes not only the next best thing, but also a threat that come March SOE won't have a choice anymore because omg EQ2 is going down!
You also said this about WoW and about Vanguard, yet here you are playing this totally corrupt and horrible game. Go figure.
Conan will suck. It will be a colossal flop. I will laugh at those who play it. The truth is there isn't going to be a good MMO worth even fucking with until Bioware, 38 Studios and Mythic release their next titles. Funcom blows and Conan will blow. They've already horribly disappointed their beta testers and the trade shows they've shown up at. So good luck with that.
Also, as for your implication that the dev team are my buddies, you failed to phrase that comment in its proper tense, which would be the past tense.
With Gallenite recently leaving SOE all of the people I considered to be my close friends on the EQ2 team have moved on. Thankfully for me the majority of them are at 38 Studios, who will produce what I hope will be a AAA title worth playing for years. So while the slight may have been appropriate a year ago, it certainly wasn't when you typed that. I didn't expect you to know and/or realize that however, because it would imply that your head is somewhere other than up your ass, and we both know that isn't possible.
So while the shot at my grandfather was a good one, the rest of your post fails. You fail? Color me amazed.

Yeah, I read the Eci thread I should've probably seen that coming.
Par for the course:
Cracatoa will talk about how he didn't want to get hurt and he wanted nothing more than to go to Iraq... despite being hurt and trying to get out of the Army while his platoon was there.
Then he'll qoute all this internet legalese about how he'll sue LFG, this site, my mom, our ponies and Capcom for making Street Fighter 4.
Afterwards when I continue to mock him he'll then PM LFG numerous times and threaten him with all sorts of legal action, which will result in... nothing.
Ah how history repeats itself.
For reference on the lovely Jody aka Cracatoa:
