Do I harvest them?
Are they made from something else, and if so what and how?

You get the fuels for Adornments by Transmuting - Treasured
- Master Crafted
- Legendary
- Fabled
Gear
So no it doesn't drop, you don't harvest them and they are made by breaking down the listed items

Re: Will Secondary tradeskills be ready for launch?
Republishing this from the Beta and TS forums.
IT'S BETA, SUBJECT TO CHANGE!!!
what is transmuting?
the skill to take componets from items that are used to create adornments.
it is a secondary tradeskill you can choose when reach the 10th level of primary tradeskill.
what can be transmuted?
treasured gear
adept 1s
master spells
legendary gear
fabled gear
master crafted items
what cant be transmuted?
handcrafted items {player made items with non rare resources}
furniture
consumables {food ,potions,poisons,ect}
some quested treasured gear
containers.
collectables/tombs,language items,mounts ....................most all non "gear/spell"items
How exactly does the transmuting process work?
When you hail the the transmute trainer located in either butcherblock mountains at the dock or in Kelethin you will be granted the skill of transmuting.When wish to transmute a item click the skill and your mouse arrow will now turn a blue color.Mouse over a item you wish to destroy and the process will start and about 2 seconds later the item will disappear and a componet will appear in your inventory.The item you wish to transmute must be within your skill level of transmuteing.you start with a skill of 10 so with 5 skill points per level you can only transmute lev 1-2 adepts.The higher your transmute skill the more items you can transmute since any item below your skill level is opened up to you.{More info on gaining skill points below}
What do i receive when i transmute a item and what are the items used for?
When you transmute a item by destroying it you will receive a item that is used in adornment recipes. Each adornment recipes require multiple componets. The following is needed mana, infusion, powder and fragment.
Some tradeskill classes do not require all 4 componets to make adornments.
Here is the type of componet each type of item yields.
treasure - either fragment or powder
master crafted -either fragment or powder- rare chance for infusion <5% chance.
legendary -either powder or infusion
fabled-either infusion or vial of mana {semi rare for mana roughly 30 pct chance}
:Note.......... there is a chance to pull 2 componets from a item. For instance can pull a frag and powder from adept 1.....but can not pull multiple of same componet.
After something is transmuted what is done with the componets?
When these componets are combined you receive a item that can be attached to weapons or gear.At this time you can not have multiple adornments on the same piece of gear.
Each tradeskill class has different type of adornments all of them can make.Check the transmute trainer for the recipe books that are availible to you.
Adornments are attached by owner of the gear.Right click adornment click use then mouse over the item you wish to attach the adornment to.
If something has a prior adornment it the new adornment will overwrite the previous adornment.
Adornments will not overwright natural effects/procs the item already contains.
Adornments cannot be removed at this time, just replaced by another adornment.
Can any lev transmuter transmute any level item?
No transmuters are bound by skill levels.A transmuters max skill is based off of there primary tradeskill level.Say you have a lev 42 adept 1 that you are gonna transmute if your tradeskill level is 29 you cant do it.You have to actually be lev 42 witch would be skill 210. As with any skills you have a minimum and a max. When get the transmuteing skill at level 10 you start at 10/50 tansmuteing skill. You need to transmute items to increase the skill to reach the max of 50/50.to increase your skill level you transmute items or use your transmute reaction buff you use at chemistry table if you are combineing combining temper witch would be a transmuters adornment.
Well how do i gain skill points?
When you transmute a item that is a max of 2 levels below you there is a chance for a skill up.You may gain transmute skill points up to 100 skill points witch would be equal to lev 20 skill level.Once you reach 100 skil points you can only gain skill points when you combine componets for transmuter only adornments which would be tempers. The books for transmuter adornments are brought from the transmuter merchant.
What a transmuter can not do for you?
they can not pull a proc or effect it self from a item.
they can not transmute or adorn a item that is attuned or no -drop that someone else has possession of.
they can not combine 2 items together.
they can not unattune a item they own by making new item from attaching a adornment.
Other FAQs:
Are adornments no drop?
No they can be traded and brought off the broker if there are any for sale.also Also componets are tradeable so you can purchase the componets and bring to tradeskiller that can perform combine for you.
Do the adornments scale to level?
Yes they scale up..... you can have a tier 1 adornment attached to a piece of tier 7 armor and you will recieve receive benifits benefits the adornment.
They do not scale down ......... you can not have a t7 adornment on a tier 2 piece of gear.
Can you have 2 adornments on the same item?
Not at this time.
Can broken/damaged items be transmuted?
No.
Can every piece of treasured or better gear be transmuted?
No atm alot of quests rewards can not be transmuted as well as some very common tresured such as scaleborn gear.Atm there isnt a known way to tell befor hand what can be transmuted or not.
I am transmuteing items but my skill is not increaseing.....why?
The items you transmute must be a max of 2 levels <10 skil points> below what your current skill is for a noticeable chance at a skill up.According to the dev in charge there is very very rare chance at skill up from items way below your skill level but from all reports this chance is so small there is no data knowing so.

Re: Will Secondary tradeskills be ready for launch?
so Calth, do you think either tradeskill will be ready for launch?
I'm thinking transmuting will be moreso ready than tinkering, and tinkering (atm) is worse than where it started imo .. but I think we'll see (or hope) something change tomm .. nothing major, but a few minor fixes to hopefully make it semi-playable. thus ..
transmuting will be mostly ready for launch, while (imo) tinkering will be nowhere near ready .. including broken rng skillups, red-con recipes, and major raws needed.

You talk about "destroying items".

Re: Will Secondary tradeskills be ready for launch?
I thought someone said the betteries made it in, but I haven't checked myself. Too damn busy to log into Beta.
I think they'll be "ready enough" by SoE's standards. As in, they will go in the game fully functional and see a lot of tweaks in the first couple of weeks. DenMom's list of last-minute crap was pretty extensive.
On the Devil's Advocate side, we don't know how much of that list is fixed but hasn't made a Beta Build yet, as SoE's history is to either throw TS stuff to Test or Beta way before Beghn's ready or to hold it until the last minute so it doesn't get tested properly.

Probably. Or broker farm. Slow down, read the FAQ, lol.
No doubt it's gonna bork the economy worse than most changes, for at least a couple months.

Re: Will Secondary tradeskills be ready for launch?
like how many items is it going to take per tier? 100? 300? 500?
just kind of wondering because i see the only restraint at all from keeping people from leveling up in a few days being getting the treasured gear from gray mobs.
