Yeah, that would rock. I've been looking for one myself, but so far no luck...

EqDkp has a plugin called ItemStats that works with WoW so that when you mouseover items in your DKP list it shows you an image with the items stats.

I believe that is what he is refering to. I have not found anything that is compatible with any of the EQ2 database sites.

I know I know, thread necro.

Any word on getting the lootdb integration working?

I did see a version of itemstats that supposedly works with eq2.. It was a pretty recent thread. I am looking for an item database as well, but hardly anyone supports eqdkp with eq2 any more it seems.

How wanted is something like this? I mean seriously, who wants me to develop something like this? Or is this a passing fancy that only few will use?

I'd be cautious people could use the functionality to spider through your whole database and then start up their own.

if you don't care about that, then set it up so they can request item by name or code with optional level requirement field and then you simply return back the results (if 1), if more than 1 then look at item level as well. I doubt something would have the same name and same level, though I guess epic weapons are like this, -- very rare tho, can make exception for the rare items pretty easily like require [EPIC] or something in request.

Might actually generate more viewers to your website if all you return is a anchor tag with a title -- that then links to the item in your website. -- though I don't know why they could not just go find the link themselves now and add it to their website.
