This is a really good point. Look at the trends, APPEARANCE SLOTS. People raved and raved over this shit when it actually had nothing at all to do with the game.
Demographics of MMO players have DRASTICALLY changed. They arent these pimply faced little kids, I was one when i started eq1, but now im a 24 year old married male with a 40 hour a week job like all the other desk junkies in the US. I get random tells left and right from middle aged women that wanna talk about their kids and are using this as their social network. There are people who can get more pussy by using eq2 than they could ever get by going to a bar. *cough* *gaige* *cough*. Just pack up shop and make it second life already.

You played long enough to know that if it is that way now, it`s doesn`t mean that it stays that way. Remember LU13 and NGE?

Re: SOE Licenses 3rd Party RMT Company for In Game Virtual Property Sales
I can see the echange servers going with this, I can even see a renewed push for the exchange servers. But I think SOE learned its lesson when they put in the exchange servers.
Though it is fun to bash SOE and EQ2 devs, you got to hand it to them, they do seem to care about what the majority wants and does there best to see it happen.
My understanding is SOE is about to release a slew of new games under their Station access umbrella. My bet is this is more geared towards those games. And honestly, adding RMT to the matrix or some of the other titles barely surviving might make it popular in the asian market and could breath new life into them.
I also bet this will go live on the asian EQ2 servers. Because RMT is all the rage in the asian markets.
What I would love to see is this go live on all the servers. Bear with me. If you use it, there is like a 1 in 10 chance you are automatically transferred to the exchange servers. That is for both the sellers and the buyers. It has to be a low enough chance that those who would use it will still risk it, but high enough that it eventually transfers all the plat sellers and buyers to the exchange servers. That would solve the plat seller and buyer issue, drive out the asian farmers, and clean all the closet cheaters from our servers.

Re: SOE Licenses 3rd Party RMT Company for In Game Virtual Property Sales
I see this as a 'throw in the towel' move. Milk the game for every last drop of blood until it is finally dead, populated by only the most dedicated or bored. Yeah, it's time to move on.
I asked in another thread if the game could endure a large fundamental change. Ironically, this is a large fundamental change, just not the one I was thinking of; I have to agree with the other thread for different reasons.......it will fail and harken the end of the road for many players. Couple this with the proverbial smack in the face to the paying customers after the Test debacle, and it becomes apparent SOE sees the ship sinking and is taking decisive steps to ensure maximum return. If you can find the silver lining, good for you. I present you the EQ2 equivalent of the NGE. Wasn't what I expected, but history is likely to repeat itself. Congrats on finding a way to sabotage your own product and write its death sentence for many.
Yes, you can have my stuff. It'll apparently cost you though.

its called 'Fantasy' because its NOT supposed to be real...
but from the looks of it, those days might be numbered.
too bad, really

no really. go download an already existing RMT game.
everything you just said is bullshit.
Its bullshit in existing RMT games and its bullshit on Bazaar.
Hi, I look better, fight better, and enjoy most content this game has to offer, OH! and I get to sell my extra plat to people with money to burn.
you people are over reacting.

Now, do you get it? Nothing is changing. You people are fucking morons who think anything is changing. This is just the growth of Station-Exchange into a larger partnership with other corporations who realize they should do the same. It's called expansion, and SOE is realizing the time to do it is NOW, not later.
|
I played spot the difference, but couldn't find any.
When did "I don't see this changing anything to SoE" start to equal "Nothing is changing."? Do you have more than your opinion to back this up?
I agree at the moment it's all very vague considering what this will have an impact on, you cannot blame people for assuming the worst, it's not like SoE games are famous for their lifecycle...

This is exactly the same arguments that were put forth when Station Exchange was announced. This is a very similar Press Release to Station Exchange. In fact, instead of it being called Station Exchange, they are now taking an already implemented feature and expanding on it for that specific area. Nothing is changing. The sky is not falling.

If forced RMT comes to EQ2, I'm gone. Plain and simple. I do not participate in LoN, in fact, I think it is down right dumb and refuse to spend any real money on it.
I like EQ2, but it isn't worth the headaches RMT brings.
