This whole thing reminds me of the steroid scandle. There's going to be those players that don't aquire in game items through purchase due to principle, those that don't give a crap and are blatant about it, those that try and be sneaky about it and then those that just give in due to seeing thier neighbor with all the cool items. Then, someone is going to find a way to figure out who is purchasing in game items like LON for real life money and they will be disgraced and all thier achievements will be tainted.

But, in all honesty, in the end, the difference between the real gamers and the people who buy in game items for cash will show.

This was the thread where someone first posted that SOE had hired an exec from IGE to handle it's Asian operations. Several of us raised concerns about SOE hiring that guy, and Grimwell responded that there was nothing to be concerned about, that the guy hired wasn't going to have anything to do with RMT, and was being brought in based on his expertise in the Asian markets.

I disagree, the relative few that would actually quit would vastly be outweighed by the money from those who stayed, those who stay and participate in RMT, and those who come on board afterwards.

Unless you mean to say that Blizzard et al have yet to scratch the surface of the Asian market's potential. But in my limited biz sense, if you're generally considered the largest MMO out there, and nearly half your sub base originates from a highly-coveted demographic, you can't be doing THAT shabby? (Assuming, of course, I didn't miss a report on how TBC drove away some 3.5 players.)

Nothing has been announced about RMT being implemented on EQ2's non-exchange servers.

But is it really that big of a stretch to connect the dots?

Before you answer, a word to the wise. If you're wrong and in another couple months EQ2 has an RMT mechanic go live, I will be there to throw your words back in your face.
