For the same reason I don't play on The Bazaar.
Not sure what's so Earth shattering about that.

And the reason you don't play on the bazaar is.......?
I mean, the reason I don't, is cause my brother when we started playing said his account was on Mistmoore, so I made my guy on Mistmoore.

Again, you are contradicting yourself.
But that's getting to be besides the point. I take what you mean to say as the market will adjust - and then return to normal.
But your model includes the infusion of RL cash into a virtual economy. If you cannot see how that would affect an extreme change, then I don't know what to say.
I will say that you are virtually alone in your assessment.

GDI, two threads, same convo. LOL.
I'll say it again. This is good for people that publish video games, not people that play them. This includes SE in its current form. The person with the highest credit limit wins. Fairness with a price tag. Pre-paid Progression. Call it what you want. It goes against a very basic principle of playing any game, video or otherwise:
It isn't fair.

My financial status should not determine my effectiveness in MMOs. This is a video game, not a Country Club.

Unless you mean to say that Blizzard et al have yet to scratch the surface of the Asian market's potential. But in my limited biz sense, if you're generally considered the largest MMO out there, and nearly half your sub base originates from a highly-coveted demographic, you can't be doing THAT shabby? (Assuming, of course, I didn't miss a report on how TBC drove away some 3.5 players.)

Marginal success for a market that covers hundreds of millions of gamers and holds 60% of the world's population at around 4 billion people.

That they are, and I would never pay per song for guitar hero as an example. I said FPS though, and the only things you would buy for them are new zones in which to fight. I have no problem with buying expansions as new zones are, but object to all avenues of advancement in game being obtainable if I have a high enough credit limit.
I don't give a crap what companies are involved, just what products they choose to implement the services in. SoE's products have been substandard thus far, as far as i'm concerned, and this would be the nail in the coffin for my $$ headed to their pockets. SWGNGE, RoK in general, and Test/Unrest shit pushed my patience to the limit already; and if i'm not enjoying a game I won't play it.

Re: SOE Licenses 3rd Party RMT Company for In Game Virtual Property Sales
People buy plat and toons on every server. You are ignorant if you think otherwise. The plat spammers spam for a fucking reason.
Personally I would welcome this change, and it's not because I have tons of cash to spend on a game. For the people spouting the shit about old-schoolers I have played mmo's since eq1 beta. And guess what? Eq1 was fucking rampant with plat and toon selling. But people got scammed endlessly. Which is why they implemented the SE servers in eq2.
All it does is make buying in game coin/items easier. You can't buy clearing raid zones or killing contested. Worst thing is you can buy masters but they shouldn't come from heroic shit imo anyways..
And for the people who will quit over it at least you will be able to sell your plat lol.

6 millions subs in nothing in Asia. Nothing. Blizzard's business structure over there is night and day to N. America/EU. It costs about a $0.05 to get the game started over there from what I've read so it might just come down to what you really consider successful.
When I see Maple Story and other games with 10's of millions...they win just by straight numbers.
