Having gear doesn't show progression. Being able to kill the mobs shows progression.

I'd say skill isn't defined by countless hours of raiding; if you suck at the game, you will still suck after 3 years of playing as many do, while if you are good at the game your skills will show from the start. The difference between you and him may go as far as skill but all I would see different would be your time played and credit card bills, and since I would not be in a position to actually see either, you would be just as good as each other.

You know... allowing people to buy XP is actually a hell of a lot easier to stomach IMO than allowing people to buy plat/items. It's not nearly as damaging to the economy.
