Re: SOE Licenses 3rd Party RMT Company for In Game Virtual Property Sales
Na its not new, but the support its getting recently from eq'ers is. Shameful to say the least. But hey im only a static 30 bucks a month, that 30 bucks a month plus ingame item sales must look more appealing.
I don't support this, never will. I think LoN crossed the line but many said ok, no biggie. SOE just doing baby steps to thier final goal. That old trick of boiling the frog .......... put frog in cold water and slowly turn up the heat and it will never know its getting cooked till its too late.

SOE isn't making any real money at producing good games so they are after gimmics, RMT and LON etc etc
Shit company, shit games, shit business.

Re: SOE Licenses 3rd Party RMT Company for In Game Virtual Property Sales
The issue here is one of integrity. Simply saying that sony is grabbing onto market trends etc. is irrelevant. Savanja, your fan-site bias is spewed all over this thread, and while your opinion is appreciated, repeating it is not.
Maintaining a moral stance in a game does cost money. Backing up promises does cost money. But are these things as important as their potential income? I guess not.

Bottom line is SOE is in it to make money, and this is one way how. They weren't the first to take this step, not even close to being pioneers in RMT, they are simply swimming with the flow headed by consumer spending.
Wanna be pissed off? Be pissed off at each of your fellow gamers who WANT this even if they don't have the nuts to step up and admit it. Coin sellers, Station Exchange players, etc..they aren't there because no one is interested, they are there because while players sit around here being all pompous about it, their friends are typing in their credit card numbers to buy that fabled off of the broker.

Thats to easy Savanja, pointing out that there is extra money to be made out of MMO's for companies does not reflect your own oppinion, neither does it reflect how you think it will affect your game play.
Either post your personal oppinion, for example, show how glad you are that in the future you can do X and Y, or stop blindly defending moves that according to some people will negatively influence their specific game play.
Personally I don't think it will change to much. The way the farmers have their way in our MMO will not increase or decrease anything. Inflation per spend dollar is allready to widely spread in EQ2.

Re: SOE Licenses 3rd Party RMT Company for In Game Virtual Property Sales
The only reason why this shit works is because people are stupid enough to participate.
But hey, people buy ringtones too so I guess they get what they deserve.
Personally, I refuse to play a game that allows you to improve by throwing more money in, and would cancel my account if this affected EQ2.

I accept exchange servers because with it those cheaters shouldn't pollute my server in theory, well at least their number is reduced.
The day this will infest normal servers, I'm gone. Good, I needed an excuse to go playing something else. and SoE is really trying to get me out of the door.
And I thought the spam filter was a step in the right direction... it was only to eliminate competition.

What does morality have to do with doing business? If morality had anything to do with business it should BRING new customers, and increase the business done. Not cost money. You can not blame a business to reflect society. Now and then they might seem better, now and then they might seem worse.
Why does a promise have to count forever, and can not be influenced by new insights? Why should promises by default cost money?
now I am not saying that this is or is not the best move business wise, Personally i doubt it will change our world to much. I do hope it will not be implemented for our MMO....but am afraid that SOE prefers to keep the money for themselves that IGE is earning now. (and who can blame them)

Re: SOE Licenses 3rd Party RMT Company for In Game Virtual Property Sales
There will be a letter that states "We assure you EQ2 will not participate in...", a few months down the line another letter will be issued that reads "We are happy to announce that EQ2 is now a part of..."
It's at that point I will euthanize my account. I'm strongly against RMT, and will have nothing to do with a company that forces me to play on an RMT endorsed server. At least with Station Exhange it was kept on separate servers, so while I didn't agree, I could still stomach it.
If this is the path that all MMOs will eventual take, I'll just simple avoid the genre.
