now I am not saying that this is or is not the best move business wise, Personally i doubt it will change our world to much. I do hope it will not be implemented for our MMO....but am afraid that SOE prefers to keep the money for themselves that IGE is earning now. (and who can blame them)
I know it's a good business choice, and I know they are losing money by not making every server an exchange server.

With that said, I think its important to hold these companies up to some kind of standard. If they promised no exchange servers, the last thing I want to see is some alternative. Thats being deceptive.

Exactly.

Your reputation is much more valuable than simply chasing after a dollar like a cheap whore. Just look at companies like BioWare and Blizzard. Their name on a game is a license to print money. It's because consumers know that if you purchase one of their games, it's going to be a quality product, held to some of the highest standards in development.

You can't get that kind of respect and recognition, constantly fucking your players over for a quick buck.

So you want to tell me that neither BioWare nor Blizzard have ever promised something to make another decision some time later on?

I don't follow their games specifically, but i do reek bull right there.

Blizzard never made unfulfilled promises except release dates (which now are more believable). They are just letargic in their developing speed. I know that if I buy a Blizzard game, I buy a masterpiece and it's not just WoW.

Bioware I have no clue sorry.

hehe, must admit I was thinking of their release date....but hoped there would be more dirt. Maybe they just promise less?

(could less communication be possible at all )

You've failed to perceive the point of my post. It's that you can make more money building a positive reputation for yourself, than screwing your consumers over for a quick dollar.

as long as this doesn't affect eq2 or, at the very least, is limited to the station exchange servers, i don't care. if, however, this affects the regular servers, i'm cancelling my account. that's not a threat, i know SOE don't give a shit whether or not i cancel, but that's what i'd do.

I have not failed to perceive your post. just don't agree with it. A good reputation is neccessary. Changing views as times change is also.

The question (which non of us can answer) will the future MMO playing mass prefer to play with their wallet?

I have money to burn and I would leave a game in a heartbeat if I was
paying sub fees PLUS had to spend RL cash for stuff in-game.
I dont have any trouble and all seeing SOE start doing this on the non exchange servers(Some would argue they are with LoN).
I mean what other game in there ~Block Buster~ lineup would they try
it with?
