We're interested in working with LiveGamer because they are unique in the RMT world due to the fact that they are pledging (and are putting technology behind it) to not buy from farmers. Farmers are the bane of our existence at SOE. They cause us endless amounts of grief and do real financial damage in a meaningful way.

What do I mean by that?

Many of them use stolen credit cards, obtained by unsuspecting users who give them credit card #'s to purchase in-game gold. I'm not saying all of the RMT shops out there use stolen credit cards, but a LOT of them do. Your credit card is absolutely not safe in their hands.

In addition we recieve large scale (over $500k so far) fines for chargebacks that these scumbag farmers routinely do. They purchase a new account.. use it for a month and then call the credit card company to say "I never paid for this". Over time, as the # of these incidents rise we get fined by the credit card companies. And it's not just us, other large MMO companies are seeing exactly the same problem.

In any event, I wanted to stop in and at least set the record straight - you aren't going to be seeing RMT allowed on the non-exchange enabled servers.

Smed, thanks for answering, and while I don't agree with your views on LON and RMT, I appreciate you coming here....

I think an easy fix would be to make LON platinum purchases only, no RMT(real money transactions) but that's just me....I don't like involving real money into it....but again, thanks for registering and commenting.

Wow, I can believe how naive some of you are. Is this your first time dealing with business? Do you always take what the seller has to say at face value? "OMG Smed sed it wont happen, so it must be troo!"

It's not like SoE has switched stances midway through before, right? Personally, I'm gonna sit back and watch what enfolds next year, before I take Smed's word as gospel.

I would love to sell some of you a car, if all it takes is my word that it wont break down.

Yah, I'm happy to see the statement, but I also remember when he said that Vanguard wasn't going to be controlled by SoE and lo and behold, Vanguard is now owned by SoE. Never mind the brohaha dealing with the CU/NGE mess.

I'm a believe it when I see it type of person when it comes to SoE.

It doesn't. The bottom line is, if something pisses you off, you can cancel your account. For now, I deal with what I have seen, and I have seen ALOT of crazy wildfire stories going around. Someone stepped and said it wasn't so. Does this make it true? No.. However, the sky STILL is not falling, because you can easily choose to move your fucking ass on. Its not like your fucking wife/husband/mother/best sister ever died. Stop acting like this is the reaping and your firstborn is going next.

Not that some of these stories aren't interesting, and gettin in bed with the RMT's doesn't sit well with me. But all you can do is take Smed's word for it for the time being. All of these rumors that the sky is falling serve no one any good though.

Of course the part of Smed having the souls of 1,000 banned players is true though, I know a kid who says his cousins-best friends- brother saw it once
