I'm not talking about Station Exchange, I'm talking about games financed through virtual item sales.

If SoE implements this on live servers, guess what they're going to model it after.

My financial status should not determine my effectiveness in MMOs. This is a video game, not a Country Club.

That's a nice ideal, but wholly unrealistic. MMOs to begin with are luxury goods requiring substantial amounts of free time, as well as access to a decent computer and internet connection. This alone limits their popularity to the upper-ends of the socio-economic spectrum.

MapleStory? That seems to be the closest to what FreeRealms is going for.

Um, yeah. I'm talking about EQ2, not other cases. Try and stay focused because SOE isn't going to hire you as Head Sack Lapper if you can't keep your eye on the ball(z).

what makes you think this has anything to do with EQ2, and not other, upcoming SOE projects?

What makes you think it doesn't? They'd never introduce RMT for ingame items in a game that launched without it......oh, wait.

So, for those canceling over some real progress in the genre - good riddance. MMOs are better off without you.

Umm... This is doable on 20k a year easy enough. If you think you need to be upper classish to have a computer, Internet connection, and free time, you are sorely mistaken.

Re: Time to vote with the all mighty dollar ?
/agree, Marvy
I know more than a few people who do their daily grind at the factory and head home to zone out for the rest of the time. I'm not much better, since I'm sure I could be feeding my progression at work if I weren't trying to progress in game. Also, it's no ones fault but their own if they decide to pour their time into this game. The problem here is that progression SHOULD be solely based on time/skill. Tennis lessons are one thing, buying Serena Williams to play your friends on your weekend outing, that's missing the whole point.
