Actualy, copies DID occur to original Test back in the TFD beta. Of course, only a few guilds were copied over, and then deleted. But hey, they did happen(not very often it seemed like). Obviously this was all pre-Test PVP.

Full guilds, beginning with FoH, were copied and recopied to Test DOZENS of times, fully geared, since T5. I know this for a fact. Some were copied so many times, the most recent copy had 4 or more x's after the name. And each time those were copied, they again brought over the full amount of platinum and items on the toon.

I remember talking to someone in NPU, during the KOS beta, who was talking about being copied over to Test so many times he had "multiple thousands" of plat on Test. Now, I'm not saying anyone from NPU ever distributed that kind of plat on Test.

I will admit to handing out "multiple hundred" plat on Test myself, from a toon I had copied there once. I honestly didn't feel like it was a big deal to do that just on Test, or that it was wrong to do. This was just the Test server, afterall, the duped items weren't a big deal when they were strictly limited to that environment. It's only when they came back the other way I raised my hand and objected.

I have to ask Demi tho...are you talking now about the fiasco involving Unholy Trinity being copied to Unrest server? Most of those folks leveled their toons on test the old fashioned way so far as I know...I never heard of anyone using beta buffed toons to power level legit toons on test....ever.

I spent enough time on test getting to know the folks there...yes I do know of the time that LFG lent his plat to a group of folks who rolled new toons on test and started what we thought was going to be a new raid guild that eventually failed and merged with Unholy Trinity. Where the plat that LFG gave our guild leaders I don't know now to be honest....only LFG remembers probably who lent his money to way back when....not that that is important now.

But so far as I know only completely legit toons from test from certain folks in Unholy Trinity were copied over to Unrest. At least two of the folks copied over don't even play on Unrest but instead play on Mistmoore and never touched their copied toons on Unrest and didn't find out about this fiasco until it was over and dealt with by SOE.

So to calm the issue here...all those copied toons were deleted. Period. They no longer exist. Other than the Unholy Trinity folk nobody else was copied off test and brought back to live....which is why if you go to Everquest II Test Server :: Index and check our their forums you will find where quite a few folks are very hurt and upset by what SOE did and more than a handful have cancelled their accounts and left the game.

As far as the all the copies of toons from live to test for testing raid content...I've no idea if SOE kept all those or eventually deleted them or if after testing raid content whether they were then copied back to live..../shrug I kind of doubt that SOE would have allowed that much duping to go on without fixing it eventually but again we all know SOE"s track record in the honesty dept so if anyone wants to do the dark research on that go for it....all I know is all my beta buffed toons that I once had got deleted as soon as the beta that was participating in was done.

Believe that was Kwoung and Zindi...and their copied toons on Unrest were deleted with the rest when the whole batch were deleted. They made new legit toons on Mistmoore that they play. I don't know what new names they rerolled as...but as far as what they say...they are now playing legitly on a live server and they started from ground zero with nothing like all other new players.

Over the last three years, they often temporarily copied known raid guilds to Test to test new things. Some of the toons were deleted; some weren't. It didn't really matter since maybe three players in fifty hung around to see what the server was like after the fact.

I can't remember who they all were anymore, because the last time I remembering it happening was within 6 weeks of the KoS launch. There *WAS* no PvP Test to be repurposed at the time so they didn't go there.

[Edit: and, of course, that'll teach me to read the whole thread before replying; LFG accurately said as much already. Personally I kind of liked it as a Tester, because it meant no-one was after me to raid 3-5 nights a week, and I got to go visit the houses that copied over with and steal decorating ideas. And none of them was of a mind to be harmful to the community, until TFD Beta.]

My concerns are:

If any of the chars show on live that reside on test will they bork the entire ladder system because it is still questionable if they actually leveled the char legit or used the buffed chars or for that matter still have a buffed char.

There may have been a loophole in that the newbie island was not the only way to get the char to Island of Marr and a number of players used this method instead. This leaves it questionable as to weather the devs deleted all these chars.

I want to add something here:

I could care less if the entire world population was copied to test but to move or copy back is just wrong. Test server is not suppose to be in any way related to live servers. I for one did not keep any of my chars and would never think of asking for one to be sent to live because I did group and get PL'ed with a group of twinks.

Just from my experience of getting copied to test in Second Dawn, We had Strict Strict orders not to contaminate any of the test server economy with plat, buying, selling, or any other such. Exill strictly gave us orders not to interact with the test community in any way as it was frowned upon by SOE.

Not saying everyone followed 100% but from my copies there I know I never polluted Test at all.

Seriously tho, I'm glad they've been copying guilds to test. For the longest time, I thought it was just the normal test players testing out raids, and that had me worried.
