Default Problem with double boxing....

I'm trying to use my girl friends account to transfer some lore items to an alt, but everytime I load up the second account it freezes up and it seems I can't have 2 instances of EQ2 running at once. Anybody had this problem or know a solution.

Thanks ahead of time.

On the same machine? Be helpful to know the spec's of the machine.

Either your processor cannot handle both game clients or you don't have enough system memory. I can play two games on the same system in lower graphics settings with a AMD64 4000+ X2 and 3GB of PC3200 DDR (Yes I need to upgrade =/ ).

Ahh yes sorry I'm running an AMD64 3800+ x2 with 2gb of pc3200 ddr2 with geforce8800gtx on windows Vista, I'm suspecting it may be the ram but I'm not sure.

Im running pretty much the same system only wit h 3gig not 2 and can two box with setting on high quality no lag appart from qh. Then im not running vista ;) I could manage enough to swap things even with only 1g though one would freeze if i tried to do much.

Perhaps try with both characters some where quiet to minimise the load?

Is there a dedicated forum anywhere for multi-boxing in EQ2? Found one for EQ, but that does me no good.

I did 2 box on a considerably weaker system than anything posted here, my question is, did you actually install the game in two locations on the HD? or are you just launching the one version a second time? Not having done it, I thought I read that something goes ape shit if you actually try two locations of the game in separate places on the HD and that it doesn't go so well.

On the official forums there is SOME help about multi boxing, there is some here too, just search for it. I do it with my new system and have very little lag even with lots of visual goodies (spell etc even in groups of 6) except in QH and then the second screen just stutters a bit while it catches up.

If I can duel box on my comp, anyone can. I gotta turn graphics down, but it runs smoothly.
AMD 3700
2gb
GeForce 7950GT

A very mediocre system. I do run XP though. I stay with the tried and true. ;)

It's God's way of telling you that boxing is bad.......mmmkay?

Seriously, you WILL go to hell and die.....especially if you continue your unnatural practice in groups and raids.

It seems vista is the issue. I could not get vista to run 2 versions of the client no matter what i tried. Switched back to XP and the issue went away. My solution for you: Switch back to XP and add 1 more gig of RAM.
