Remember the lag during during aoe charm when EoF came out? That was detrimental to the consumer experience, therefore worth complaining about.

Guess what? Not being able to log in due to patching something that is completely unrelated to the product I signed up to play is detrimental to my consumer experience as well.

You say that we have had massive LoN updates *only* twice this year. Problem is, we shouldn't have to cope with *any* of them, we play a MMO; if SoE wants to earn some extra coin the best option is to make a standalone client for it.

That is not even contemplating all the other inconveniences related to LoN, most of which have already been mentioned in this thread.

QFT. They made a separate client for LON, let people use that. Alt-tab out during raidlag if you must.

Sadly at this point even I have to agree the LoN updates suck. What's worse, I tried out of curiosity to launch LoN while in EQ2 but the mass of patches is bugged and needs a rescan. It's all pretty stupid.

I everyone knows this (i'm not above spouting the obvious), but the last thing the world anyone at SOE corporate would want to do is unbundle this crap from the thing people REALLY want to play. Do you think that the junk mailers regret crapping all over your mailbox, or that telemarketers (well, the people running the gig, not the luckless McPhoneys) cry over pulling you away from your dinner? The 3% who actually go "Gee, what a great idea" are the only people they care about. The rest can go play with themselves quietly in the corner.

That being said... I agree with the spirit of the OP... not some much the patch times, but the fact that this abomination is being foisted in the first place. I hate it, but I don't expect it'll ever go away. They (Sony) seem to be tickled with themselves over the whole thing. And that so many people are sore that they can't play in the tourney's tells me they 3% is pretty tickled too. Not that I hold onto anger for someone being enthusiastic about something but... yuck.

Fuck surgically removing it.. Hit it with a JDAM. Screw what happens to eq2 in the process.

SOE needs to make LoN downloads and spam opt-in. Even better would be to have any downloads handled entirely though the LoN client.

That LoN pack took me like 3-4 mins to dl, on a 5ish mbps connection, dunno whats up with yalls shit :P
