Personally, I'll settle for the wait and see approach.

Six months down the road will find either SOE under new ownership, or it won't. Anyone willing to take either party at their word right now is just foolish.

My advice? Don't paint yourself into a corner by relying on someone else to feed you your information. Least of all, you're own emotions.

I got in a little late on this one... false or not, I didn't get to read the original full story. The link in the first post was taken down.(Super-retraction?) The reuters story was a shorter version.

I did however find a Google cached version, if anyone wants to read the full thing that was not able to.

I know its been denied, but Is it just me or does an valuation of 300m seem too small anyways?

Even if they "were" picking it up at 5x, 60m seems low for a company with 6 or 7 games with $15 a pop a month thats like 350k accounts (just accounts, not talking LON, shelf sales, RMT, PS3 infrastructure etc).

I would think 300m for SOE in a blooming industry like MMOs would be a "trying to unload this company quickly" price.

/shrug

Seriously, think before you believe everything. This has happened multiple times on this site with numerous crazy suspicions, its time to just calm the fuck down and enjoy what you have.

That was the first thing that struck me as unbelievable. Not only the intellectual property assets, but the pipeline, goodwill of the subscriber base, etc. I'm not in this industry, but 30 m really smacked like an unbelievably low amount to me.

300 million is ridiculous. A good AAA title will run you 50-75 easy. I know Tabula Rasa broke 100. 300 million for EQ,EQ2, VG, all sounds about reasonable...until you include DC, Free Realms, and their Indian based game. It was a ploy to get free press for Craphole Incorporated. Doesn't look like the advertising is hurting SOE either.

When you don't understand a conversation, you should consider just keeping your mouth shut to avoid proving you're an idiot.
