Yeah. Verant created EQ1 (Brad McQuaid.) Sigil created Vanguard (Brad McQuaid.)

SoE eventually bought both of them, but sure the hell didn't create them. Vanguard was orginally being done for Microsoft.

Sony Online Entertainment - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
To be honest, going solely by Wikipedia is a mistake. An open source site is never really credible simply because it allows just about anyone to edit what is put in.

Anyone who played EQ1 from launch knows who made it and knows about the original development of Vanguard. Thats why everyone had such high hopes for it. The original creator of a game that revolutionized the MMO industry was working his magic once more.....then guess what happened? lol.

Edit: If you looked on the right hand side, of the original cover of EQ1 you can see at the bottom of it....

At least they got some of it right.

Wikipedia is always right!!!

If you look in that wikipedia link, there are many areas where there is discussion due to conflicting information and information being posted with no sources.

Do you believe everything you see on TV as well?

EQ1 was an evolutionary step, adding a flashy 3d graphical front-end to the established DIKU-mud system. While it was certainly an important step in MMO history, you are overestimating its importance. Games like UO and M59 were the revolutionaries, with EQ1 being the one that demonstrated greater appeal to the gaming market as a whole.

You are entitled to your opinion just as I am entitled to mine. So, instead of a debate on who thinks what, lets stick to the who played what part in the beginning of EQ1

Edit: Oh, and you seemed to have missed this part as well in that link you provided. The 5th Paragraph down.....

Quote:
In April 2000, Verant hired former Ultima Online developers Raph Koster and Rich Vogel forming its office in Austin, Texas to develop Star Wars Galaxies for LucasArts. SOE acquired Verant in June 2000 and eventually promoted Brad McQuaid to be its Chief Creative Officer.[1] EverQuest: The Ruins of Kunark (March 2000) was the first in a long list of expansions for its hit MMORPG. In October 2001, McQuaid resigned and went on to found Sigil Games Online, drawing many of the original developers of EverQuest from SOE to develop their Vanguard: Saga of Heroes MMORPG, released January 2007.

Trust whoever you want to trust, you're a grown ass man/woman (At least I think). Just saying an open source site is not credible.
