Like every broad statement, there will always be exceptions to the rules, but I think the goals are to start taking chunks from the WoW crowd, not the occasional player.
And I don't think EQ2 is a WoW clone, not yet, but every change they make seems to be getting closer to closer to that point instead of trying to go in their own direction.

Not saying that all are good but if a change is good ie "not having to stay logged in to sell" why not borrow on a good idea? who cares what game it is from be it eq1, wow, or whatever. I've been happy with all the changes since launch call me fanboy or whatever you want.

Live with it. This is what your peers asked for and received. Play PvE or play PvP... there is no in between these days. The credit cards of the subscribers have seen to that.

Disagree on no one leaves wow for a wow clone (despite eq2 beating wow release by about a week). I played wow since closed beta, got bored in end game before BC and somehow found myself in eq2. People that get tired of the crap community outside of friends and guildmates, get bored once they have run x instance or raid over and over, are quite likely to look for something familiar yet different (eq2).
I do agree though that RoK is very wowified. I went back to wow last year on BC release, hardcore raided till july and came back to eq2 cos i like the people here (was burnt raiding 7/week). Anyone who says the new eq2 isnt wowified is either delusional or never played wow.

I agree, and I do like many of the improvements they've made to make things easier. My biggest issue with the game is how they seem to encourage and push for fast leveling, but then not give us much to do when you hit max level except roll another character and start all over. Is that how WoW does it too? If not, then they should have at least stolen some ideas from them on how to keep the high level crowd occupied too.
So what exactly is their goal? They seem to be at a point right now where they don't even know themselves.
If you are a solo player, you get to do a bunch of timelines, shoot up to 80 then stare at the qeynos walls reading chat.
If you are into grouping, you get to run the same 4 instances daily (3 of which could take a good group about 1.5-2hrs total), or you can play around in the empty dungeons nobody wants to go in because there is no reason to go there for most players.
If you are into raiding, well it seems to have the most options as far as zones go, but it's clear they didn't put a ton of effort into them as many are small zones with mobs who like to stun, stifle, fear, etc. In order to make mobs challenging while not annoying, they have to either do a lot of work on improving gear (fine tuning resists, making gear progression really important, etc, etc) or make weird fights like you have to fight a mob on your hands while spinning in circles and only casting magic based nukes while keeping your power between 65.6% and 72.3% or the mob does a massive AOE that one shots the raid.
So that's what I wish SOE would tell us. Exactly what type of game are they making? Or are they actually trying to cater to all 3 styles at the same time? With their (imo) tiny dev team, I don't see that option as a very smart one considering they can't even get all promised things out on expansion launches, especially when the expansion isn't all that impressive to being with.

Re: WTF is with this game
btw, they dont give you 15 plats and a reward actually.
They damn ask you to be ally with them, that requires spending a lot of times questing (especially stormshield clan in JW ). And then only, they permit you to give them some plat for a legendary item not so bad.
You may think ez-mode. But i like that.
Only think i can agree, is the lack of interaction between factions.
In eq1 , or you was Giant faction or Dwarf. Being KoS with one was very fast ,but being ally very slow. There you can play double agent ,or triple and ally with all.
Tho, why not ? they arent telepaths and if you kill mobs not letting one alive to go tell the leaders about you, you're still a good guy for them !
It's a game, anything is permitted.

Re: WTF is with this game
Wow is popular because it's fucking fantastically polished and has virtually no bugs. And outside of changing raid sized it's stuck in the same direction, eq2 probably would have a better playerbase if it didn't flip-flop like thong sandals on a fish out of water
