Default Re: Remember When v2.0

He's been mentioned before, but Doomsquall camping the RoV zone in, so everytime anyone tried to go in or out, they had no idea why they had a sudden case of death.

One word: Billy.

When there were no quivers and you had to stick arrows into your ranged slot a stack at a time.

Poisons dropping every time you died.

I'm ashamed to admit it, but not even realising that I could use poison until I was about level 25 - well, it wasn't in the manual, and no-one told me, and I'd never played an MMO before...

Two words: Captain T'Sanne.

Zoning into Rognog as a naive, curious little newbie, and getting twatted by eleventy million red con fish (eh, Wildorf?).

The bridge gate in TS that needed a quest to open it at night. Many /ooc's asking for someone to open the gate.

Remember not beeing able to afford the upkeep on you n00b room?

Remember when loosing a shard in the lava of Lavastorm usually meant you had to petition to get it back?

Remember the spiritshard retrieval guy? (did he have a short career or what?)

Remember actually having to hail NPC's to find out wheter or not they had a quest for you?

Remember: "If I don't have what you need..YOU DON'T NEED IT!!!"

Remember actually rolling on the Treaty for Treasure thinking "Oh, cool! A quest!"

Remember stacking Selo's, JBoots, SoW and Totem for 80 or 90%ish runspeed?

Remember your first attempts as a Qeynos citizen to get the starter for Stein of Moggok?

Death by small wood chest

Warlocks being uncontested #1 dps in game.

Summoner pets being able to tank yellow ^^ mobs for 14% per kill in the teens.

4 character slots.

Betrayal quests slaughtering grays in the Caves or Ruins to get your 500 gnolls or orcs.

Betrayal named requiring full 6-man groups.

AQ's requiring full 6-man groups.

Groups that wouldn't bother fighting a mob that wasn't red.

That long-ass stifle that inquisitors could chain cast, making mobs permastifled.

Inquisitor reactives acting like the SK's current lifetap-ward.

Mobs using power

Mobs chain-casting all their CA's/Spells asap in the beginning of the fight, making it tough for healers to keep up until the power was gone, then the rest of the fight being lame-sauce easy.

Power drains from chanters didn't break mez, and in a disciplined group could negate a named from being able to use its special abilities since it was drained before it was engaged.

Recasting all my buffs every 3-5 minutes (hey, it *did* keep my casting skills maxed, at least. . . )

"Master Day" when DoF came out.

The ability to train reds and not die, especially with judicious use of sprint.

Getting my 1st gold at level 21.

No App4's.

Getting accused of price gouging for charging 3 silver for App3's on the island.

Stealth and Invisibility working at higher +levels if AD1 vs App3.

Guards from opposing cities that saw invis/stealth, saw through walls, and simply teleported you outside.

Could go on, but I'm at work and gotta get back to it. . . .

Hager's camoflauge. I think it was a class trait for Rangers only.
Invis with no 10 level limit. I saw stuff WAY earlier than alot of other low toon.

I wish EQ2 required a puller for groups, like EQ1 did.
It gave rangers (scouts) and monks a leading role in groups.

I also remember chuckling at knuckleheads that were too lazy to do the Thundering Steppes gate access as they stood for 20 minutes spamming the zone trying to get someone to open the gate. They could have gotten access in the time they stood there spamming by simply getting/deleting the access quest to get the skellies below the bridge... if they bothered to even get the barbarian language primer.

My first raid as a coercer.
/r Sono, crack us up.
/r Who, mages and priests?
/r No, all of us, all 3 buffs please.
/r WTF, all 3 on 24 peeps?

Can you say Carpal tunnel? By the time you get the 3rd buff on the last person everyone is calling for breeze again.

I remember when "charming" in EL meant crashing the zone...I did it twice before realizing there was a connection.

Trying to get to Nek Docks from CL was a bitch at lvl 20. Those stupid anacondas got me every time.

I remember duo'ing Nek Castle because it was the place for loot.

Food and Drink falling off after every death.

Seeing spells sell for 1sp at app iv and wondering how they heck they expected anyone to afford those prices.

Learning how to fall safely to the hidden refuge.

Using all my veteran rewarded "shard-reclaimer" items before the system went away and they turned into repair kits =+(

Oh, and if you used charm on a mob and it wore off he'd still have all the group buffs on him allowing those \/\/ mobs to give you and your group a sound whooping.

Good times.

Once I learned about the quest everyone in my guild at the time did the quest immediately. We all had the barbarian language but back in the early days there was no symbol above their heads to tell you about a quest. You had to speak to everyone.

Someone mentioned it but pulling the bells for the Scions in Stormhold was always a favorite. 20 dead toons every time the Scion spawned in the Atrium. Good Times.

Default Re: Remember When v2.0

I could do this all day

When the PvP servers first opened, Nagafen had 45 instances of the evil newbie island. I remember been in the Isle of Refuge # 34. People then headed to the docks in SS the minute that they dinged lvl 10 for some action.

Exploring the Feerrott after doing the access quest, only to die at that one certain point..you know..the one that revives you over by CT. Then realizing just how screwed you were....

My warlock's unbreakable group root...

Considering myself well equipped with all Adept Is.

Looking for 30 mins in RE for a healer only to find out the Defiler already in the group was not a Necro but a healer...

Getting rezzed underwater only to die again

Having a guild member leave and causing the guild to delevel a couple of levels.

Taking the necro along only because you felt sorry for him.

My only MMO experience before EQ2 was Ultima Online, so I was freaking out with excitement when I found out that I didn't need to buy reagents to cast my spells as a mage.

Logging in right after LU13 and looking at the damage nerfed on my Warlock's spells..then having my guildies trying to convince me not to quit.

Watching the civil unrest on the Ranger boards after they were nerfed. You would of thought that the end of the world was near.
