I've seen some unusual thread derails, but how did a thread that started out asking how to get unbanned on SOE's worthless, fucked-up boards get turned into a discussion of the pathetic state of public education in America?

Well your information is false. I know not 1 kid in my high school that doesn't know fractions (besides sp.ed), damn I'm pretty freaking sure everyone knows algebra too (even though its low math). In order for one to graduate high school in America they need to take the high school exit exam, which is (ill give this to you) very very easy, which includes math, English, sciences, etc.

and I'm currently a sophomore, and am from California (which has more advanced schooling then most states)

Oh and I agree about taking stupid shit out of schools... Religion does NOT need to be taught in Public schools. If parents want their kids to learn that (or kids who want to learn about religion) then they can do it at church on sundays, or pay the extra dollars to send their kids to a private school. Religion is not taught in Public schools except for dumb shit like Buddhism. However evolution is taught which is fucking retarded. It's sad that the stuff you learn in the 2nd grade is more important that what you learn in 11th for the most part.
