No, but if what smedly said proves true, and it hits the national news. Then maybe a few of the morons who buy plat will have second thoughts about buying more.

If someone is doing a transaction with someone on the internet that they dont know AND trust, they shoiuld be using an intermediary like PayPal. No, I dont think this will even dent the plat sellers business a little bit.

Well, I do think they are doing their job.

I had to 'Quit' for a short time ... only a month (i hope) due to trimming my expenditures to ensure i could make mortgauge and whatnot... but I guess ... I got banned ;).... here is the e-mail regarding the un-banning... which happend without me bitching (Because i haven't tried to log in due to lack of internet).

It depends where and why such a war was fought.

The US wouldn't stand much chance invading China due to the overwhelming manpower China could bring to bear. but China as of right now has virtually no force projection capabilities. Even invading Taiwan would be a difficult task for them. This is changing, however, as China pursues a more advanced blue-water navy, and seeks to modernize it's air force while pursuing political involvement in Africa and Latin America, all of which give it more global reach.

After reading the dev post about this and contacting my bank I come to believe that people on station exchange and normal players(ones who don't buy chinese oil) security were compromised. My bank has a block on SOE. There must be a reason for that. And I've never bought plat from China. I play on the bazaar i don't need to.

So this really has nothing to do with people on normal servers buying plat. Someone hacked our CC info at SOE.

I've gotten blocks put on cards and companies for any sort of irregularity, but none ever from any real security issue. Most recently, a block was put on my card because an order was submitted multiple times, then abruptly canceled, which triggered some sort of fraud protection.

While credit card theft is a real concern, it is only one of many possible causes, and credit card companies tend to err on the side of caution when dealing with anything that may be out of the ordinary.

Well I just got home to find out my sub had run out. It's been billed monthly to the same credit card for a while now. Sure enough the monthly payment didn't hit. I used the "subscribe" feature to reactivate my account and it gets weird from there . . .

I tried to resubscribe using the card on file. It was rejected. I tried a couple times just to make sure I had entered the right security code. No dice.

Next I tried using another card. It kept telling me I was entering incorrect information and wouldn't take the card. So I tried the CS chat option.

While I was waiting in the queue my credit card company called. They had seen the attempted charges and called to check on it. But the really weird part is they were calling on the other card--the one I couldn't enter into the system--not the one I was trying to charge (the one saved in SOE's system).

They checked the other card, and sure enough, there was an attempt to bill that one too. So they issued an override and I resubmitted it. It worked. I'm typing this as I wait in the queue just to make sure I'm not going to have a problem like this next month.

(The bank guy also said the reason my card was rejected was because I was entering the wrong security code. Bullshit. I tried it several times. I think I'm capable of accurately typing a 3-digit number when I can stare at it and double check before I hit Submit.)

Uh oh! I'm up. Brb.

. . .

Ok, nothing new or interesting from CS. They don't know why it happened, and I didn't really expect them to know. Let's see what happens next month.
