Default Key Maps go poof...

Is anyone else having this bug where everytime you log in your keymaps are set to default?
Or if you /load_keymaps xxxxxxx and then later click into your Options screen it resets them again?

I've been having this since the change was put in allowing us to save preferences... But that doesn't save the key maps along with the settings, just the performance.
It's really begining to piss me off when everytime i log or change an option I have to reload my keys

The key map profiles I have saved on my system are a couple years old and predate the option to "save" inside the Options screen..
And it will be a SERIOUS pain in my ass if I have to completely reconfigure them again since my maps are FAR from the default setting.

I'm trying to repro this but I am having no luck.

Here is what I tried:

1) Rebound "Move Forward" to "2" instead of "w"
2) /save_keymaps
3) Closed Client
4) Logged in, Pressed 2 -- Moved Forward
5) Opened Options -- Move Forward still bound to "2"
6) Loaded High Performance Setting -- Move Forward still bound to "2"

If you can give me some steps to repro what you are seeing I'll try to get a fix in this week.

Edit:

I thought of one other thing, make sure you have a Keyboards folder under "EverQuest2" and type "/save_keymaps ily" in game. Then put "cl_keymaps_file ily" into your EQ2.ini.

What may be happening is that you used "save_keymaps name" at some point which overrides the cl_keymaps_file temporarily. Next time you start the client it wont know that file name if you don't put it in your eq2.ini. <-- This is all just a guess since I can't exactly reproduce what you are seeing, but I'd be curious if this doesnt fix your problem.

Might it have to do with /quit instead of /camp?

Sounds like this old problem, or in any case the workaround there might help you.

I had this issue about a year ago, it was due to me accidentally switching my default key maps (the drop menu on the bottom of the options window) from EQ2 to another of the options, EQ, I think. Every time I logged in, I would have to reset my keymap. Once I set it back to EQ2 default, my kepmap stuck and has worked fine since. I have had one other guildie run into this issue as well and the same thing fixed theirs. Hope this is the issue as it's a pretty easy fix. =)

I will try pulling my saved keymaps into my ini file and see if that works.
Thanks for the input. =)
But yeah, my saved keymaps are pretty old, so i dont think trying to repro
it will work.

What is happening is that every time I completely camp to desktop and log back in, all my keymaps are default.
I'm guessing its got to do with the /save being in the wrong place as you mentioned. Also, if I camp from one character to another, the maps stay put, it only poofs with closing the client..or like i mentioned, clicking into options for the first time in any play session after having /loaded them. <--- That;s the part that confuses me the most =)

*** Edit: Oh, thanks for the tip on the pull down thing. I never thought of checking that.

I've had this creep up in the past few days for me as well. I threebox, and for some reason, it only happens on my second box defiler. I play him entirely using the numpad (and occasionally a mouse for follow and stuff like that)

For some reason, his hotbutton keys that I had bound to the numpad would reset to the default so that now it would force me to the default look/movement keys for the numpad.

I fixed it more than once, and then would save the keymaps, hit load, and nothing would change. In addition, it has reset WHILE playing WITHOUT me ever opening options (like I said,t he only keys I hit on him are numpad)

Oddly enough, the majority of my bindings are on the right side of my keyboard as well.
Number pad, Insert - Page down and my F keys all have CAs attached to them.

BTW if you save your keymaps, sometimes there is a bug where the 0 key will unmap (happens to me every time) so I have learned to /save_keymaps <filename>, and while still in game, open the file, copy the first line, and paste it right underneath, so the first line is actually repeated on the second line. It works every time!

And yes, you have to save your keymap file in the options file for whatever dropdown option you use, or every time you open your options window, it will reset to whatever is saved there.
