Well if all else fails, just make sure you have an SOE insider like some of us here to view the profile regardless of anonymous status.

Yes I know (that's what I meant with the "first page" of the character profile), but that information was always for free, you never needed to pay for that.

Don't even get me started on eq2players.com... Those fuckers working the webfront end are asshats. They thief shit from the Rostermaster project and stealth-tweak the xml just enough to fuck the project every few months. They know how many guilds use it and just think it's funny to piss us off... honestly they put the hide profile feature in just to make everyone quit subscribing since their site is such an abysmal failure.

The web dev team either has no management or Gomer Pyle watching over them. They have neither worked to improve, expand or fix the service these past three years. If something breaks, it either takes months to fix or they never fix it.

It's got to be the same asshats that did the in-house forums. They had months and months to deliver something with the fraction of the features of the old forums.

I canceled the 2.99 a long time ago.

The website is hilariously bad, especially considering that people are viewing it at work during the hours when they can't play the game. It isn't something they can afford to pigeonhole, looking at one's player profile is similar to viewing one's MySpace or Facebook profile.

Unless they changed it, you didnt show up as online when using the guild chat, so it was good to monitor discussions if you really wanted to see what people where saying when you werent around.. admittedly a really narrow set of circumstances..

Plus, a project i have been wanting to do for some time but really just cant motivate myself to do it would be to make a chat bot that uses the guild chat functionality... because it is just simply an authenticated jabber connection.. I got as far as testing connectivity and could connect in.

My intent was to be able to have an info bot where you could ask it about info like HQs, game info etc.. and even got the concept cleared by SOE to proceed within certain parameters..

So it -could- be leveraged for some interesting features..

It's funny that you say that..back in 2005, our guild thought somebody was coming on to listen through the webbased guild chat. They wouldn't say anything but later knew if anyone talked about him. So, we found if you sent a /tell to someone and they were logged into it..you would hear the send sound of it coming up in the brower instead of not online. Yes, /tells work in webbased guild chat.

EQ2Players is a blight on the game. There's no reason that with Sony's resources they couldn't create something as cool or better than the WoW armory. It really is a shame.

Yeah. I hear you LFG. Thinking about cancelling it, myself, but I dunno yet.

I can understand people blocking their alts.

I can understand people blocking different pages. I for example, block my AA page. I forgot what the reason was, but keeping it blocked anyway. But now people can just hit a checkbox, absolutely fucking everything is blocked. EVERYTHING. People don't show on guild rosters. They don't show on leaderboards. Nothing.

It's utter shit and by enlarge invalidates the logical uses of EQ2players.
