Are they really considering it or are you just hoping?

I would doubt that they are considering this, since EQ2Players gives you the ability to stalk other people's gaming activity, which goes against a number of data protection/privacy laws (probably not in the US, no idea about that, but this game is also sold in other countries).

You dinged 70 in Lesser Fay, now I'm going to break into your house and touch your loved ones.

I was more thinking of: On Monday you were late at work, and from your profile I see that you dinged 70 in LFay at that time, and on Tuesday you called in sick, but not only did you earn 3 levels, you also discovered item X, so you must have been raiding. And Wednesday, when this new alt of you was created, you have a played time of 17 hours, even though you were at work, care to explain that?

Your boss would have to know that you play EQ2 and your toon names first. Unless you told him (I don't see why someone would) he would have no way of checking on your play times.

Plus, the examples you gave are of someone hiding behind "anon" to aid in breaking company rules. This just further perpetuates the idea that this new anonymous feature is in place to enable shady activity, with the curtains closed.

It just gets thrown into a moving crate. Then you find some awesome person on your new server to redecorate for you, making your house look 10x better than it did originally. (Thanks Atlanis)
