Glad you're enjoying the xpac. Hope it does keep you busy for 6+ months.

What's the status of the big raids, anyway? All dead? None dead? Who killed 'em and who got the "significant" firsts?
Mayong Contested lives, Mayong Instanced lives(rest of his instance is a joke). 2nd area of Emerald Halls pretty much lives(it's a bitch back there). Avatars still alive, as is the Pumpkin Headed Horsemen.

But all in all, the raids seem hard and hopefully they stay hard and don't get gimped because everybody still needs to gear up.

Seeing as I'm not really familiar with the xpac ... what's been killed? Doesn't sound like anything significant ... which is actually pretty good for a SOE/EQ2 release. I just hope for your sakes that the unkilled mobs are gearcheck mobs, and not broken ones to be fixed later (and subsequently killed the day they're 'fixed').

you don't like luck of the dirge?

with the right gear/abilities, its just plain awesome. Plus with being able to spend 10 points in Brias/COB. The line isn't a complete waste like DKTM

Sure the luck side of the house isn't bad, but an overall evaluation just ... seems cheesy.

Clockwork Menance Factory was cleared day 1(as expected, since it's supposed to be on-par with KoS difficulty). This has a 3 day 20 hour lockout(obviously though you won't be going in until day 4)

Freethinker's Hideout was cleared(after it was fixed) a few days ago, there are only 4 named in there + trash(easy trash), the first 1 is pretty easy, 2nd one requires an interesting strat, although it's also easy. 3rd one is probably the hardest in zone, while the 4th mob isn't that hard comparitevely. This has a 3 day 20 hour lockout(obviously though you won't be going in until day 4)

Mistmoore's Inner Sanctum is pretty much a joke with annoying trash, all 5 named are pretty fucking gimp compared to Chel'Drak. While Mayong is a right pain in the ass(which is hopefully just a gear check mob, specially since loot is not droping for tanks). This has a 5 day lockout(obviously though you won't be going in until day 6)

Emerald Halls, well it's a lot of trash(although it's not annoying trash like Inner Sanctum), it has chances for really interesting encounters in comparison to everything I've ever seen in EQ2(although a few mobs aren't that unique). But they all seem like gear check mobs in here, and really don't feel broken. This has a 5 day lockout(obviously though you won't be going in until day 6)

Obviously nothing contested has dropped yet either, since they are mostly gear-check mobs that are really fucking tough and seem to require top-quality EoF gear to even attempt.

That pretty much sums up EoF raid content. Is there enough content ignoring contesteds for a raid guild? I'd have to say almost. You could do Clockwork/Freethinker's in 1 night, and then next 2 days do Inner Sanctum and Emerald Halls, then you're locked out of everything, until Clockwork/Freethinker's the day after, then you have another day off, then you begin the cycle again. So, 4 out of 6 days, that's a good amount of raid content for just instances. Of course add in doing TFD content, and KoS/TFD Contesteds, and of course EoF contesteds/avatars, and you've got yourself a full week of content.

My initial take on the expansion is that it's probably the best that EQ2 has seen and for an expansion that introduced a new race and the full range of 1-70 content, it's excellent. If they can make Unrest ultra-hard then it will be a close to 10/10 score.

Non-raider take: I love the look of the zones. They're all unique and very cool looking. Greater Fay is freaking huge and kelethin is well done. Crushbone is cool looking as well and the orcs are neat looking. New Tunaria and Klak'anon (sp?) the clockwork zone are both just so damn cool looking and unique.

Deity quests and blessings/miracles are very cool and I love the lore and story that's worked into them. I actually find myself enjoying reading quests rather than just clicking through dialogue.

New AA trees: They're ok for the berserker. Haven't really gotten into them, not sure about other classes. But so far I like the look of them but focusing on the main trees first.

Cloaks: I love being able to wear your guild's heraldry even though most of the cloaks looked really cheesey to me at first. They're definitely growing.

No comment on the new tradeskills as I just plain don't have time to do them and start harvesting over from scratch, but guildies seem to be having fun with them.

And I have to add....I love the new soundtrack. All the zones have very cool music (mostly spinoffs from EQ1 music). I actually have found myself turning the game music on again.

All in all I love the expansion, but again I don't do many raids so I can speak nothing of EoF raids at this point.

Do you include EQ1 expansions when you say that? I know you're into the whole alts and crafting thing, but how would you rate this expansion for [i]raiders[/] compared to something like Planes of Power?
