the broker system is designed with the obvious intent for people to undercut.

common sense is indeed - apparently - ftl

Sure undercutting is annoying as hell when you have to go back and readjust all 120 items by 1s or something dumb like that, but if you really want to make the most amount of money possible from each item on the broker then undercutting by 1c makes a hell of a lot of sense.

In an economic sense, every item of the same name is exactly the same. You won't find an unadorned sarnak bow with more damage than any other unadorned sarnak bow, so the best you can do is compete by lowering your prices. You can do things like tie-in sales (except not on the broker) and other tricks, but effectively they all just lower the price.

The only reason I can see why you would not "undercut" is that people that are stupid and don't see that price is the only way to compete on the broker usually get pissed when you "undercut" them, and you may end up with a bad reputation if there are enough of these retards around.

In summation, if your server has intellingent people on it, then if you're smart you'd undercut on the broker. So stop bitching.

edit:: There was a thread in the rate a retard forum about this I think, and I would have posted it there, but I think it has fallen off the page and probably would have gotten bitched at for necroposting.

If we take the sage power proc adornment at face value and assume it procs once a minute for 85 power, then that is FT8.5. Worth me running around house-to-house with 18pp to buy the components? I definitely thought so. Put it on Wand of the Tempest and you have the best power regen item in the game (~FT75 based on item desc.). The only real limiter to the customer base is that most mages are limited to the Wand of Second Life, which can't be adorned.

A.) I'm yanking your chain.
B.) I list and sell so little that to be undercut by 1s is annoying. I fully well understand how the market works. It doesn't make it any less annoying.

"waahhhhhh people set better prices than me so I'm going to complain about 'undercutting' aka people being smarter than I am and wanting to make money!"

Its annoying, but it is smart. Stop complaining about this horrible misnomer "undercutting" which is actually just setting competitive prices.

Wow. I bow to your obviously superior powers of observation that allow you to look into a tongue-in-cheek post and see into the game (across servers) that I don't turn around and undercut as well. That I just sit back and go emo when my price is beaten. I bet you can even see into my home that as soon as I see how thoroughly I've been thrashed by that 1copper, I stare in utter cataplexy at the screen, whimpering for my mommy.

Wow. Your cock must be huge.

Take me. Take me now. Take me hard.

Haha awesome post. I accept your compliments , but I must point out the hipocracy in that apparently you "undercut" yet complain about "undercutting." I am baffled. Also, no where did I say or insinuate that you did not "undercut," however it should have been a safe assumption since I would have never thought you would be complaining about something that you participate in.

So, without even looking, I can be assured you have never, here or on the offical site, made mention of either a game mechanic, player behavour or other aspect directly or indirectly related to Everquest 2 that you found less than fun? You've never, in your history, flat out said or implied you didn't like something?

We both know you have.

The fact that this, apparently, requires exposition boggles me. It was a light-hearted poke at Ever. He is on my server, is known even through his alts and is a staple of both forums. That's it.

No "rate-a-retard." No separate post on the evils of "undercutting." No complaints to devs, PM's to anyone, in-game tells or e-mails.

It is annoying to list an item and check back to see someone is a copper or silver below that I originally priced below. I roll my eyes and move on. No less annoying then the trip down Sol Eye, climbing the griffon towers when they used to be on the ground, waiting on the sprires, watching a bot take all the root nodes or anything else in-game that I don't like.

FFS, is it really that hard to see?

And it is the process that I find annoying, not the practice, btw. The process of listing, checking and repricing constantly. I would rather be doing other things but I deal. That's it.

Just before leaving for work, I noticed I went from lowest price on cloaks to third! Now I have to actually put some thought into it. Do I cheese out and undercut by a copper, silver or single gold or really try to move them and make the other people think? That's at least entertaining.
