The Wiz one is a pile of dog shit. It only took them an expansion and an epic quest line to make an item that about comparse to the wand of crystalized plasma. The Praetors Guard is better than the Wiz epic and that is just a drop from a heroic instance and doesn't require a gay quest line.

So far my general impressions of almost all of the "Epic" weapons is that they aren't really that epic at all. Most of them look like they're a short step up from whats already available plus a unique proc of varying usefulness.

My first thought on reading the details of the proc on the wizzie epic was "Oh awesome an uncontrollable damage spike. Guess I have been living through an awful lot of encounters lately."

You can't directly compare the two in parses. However the Staff of Light has almost the exact same range damage proc and it averages 30-40 dps for me (it will average less for most, because that is with the proc from dark orb, bloodthirsty-choker, and about 75% cast haste so I cast more than most). The increase estimate from boe will most likely give about 40 dps for most (and that is being generous and assuming the proc is up most of the time). The crit will give about 1.2% dps increase over what the person is currently doing. The wand of crystalized plasma is going to give about 4% dps increase. You decide.

I don't think anyone should have been expecting the group epics to be truly "epic". Just like with EQ's 2.0 epics, there is a group version, and a raid version.

I am expecting to be wowed by the epic versions, however. That's what people will want to get. The group versions are just the stepping stone requirement to get the final, truly epic version.

Thats the EXACT reason why i keep referring to this epic as the .5 epic ;)
