If it is not possible to fail, it is not difficult or challenging.

Fail as in net loss instead of zero gain?

Loss, punishment, set-back, whatever. Imagine what it would be like if dying at some point during a quest reset the quest to the beginning.

I was kinda wrong though. Its possible to have a difficult thing that you can't fail at, like a NYT Sunday crossword. Problem with puzzles is that you can cheat very easily (eq2i).

Hey it's the "we're hardcore" crew that wanted more harvesting as a challenge. If hardcore is a game the requires you to endure needless tedium, what's a game that requires skill?

At least now you've admitted that you find harvesting difficult. This is your first step toward understanding that you are a fucking moron. I'm not sure if there is a twelve step program out there that can help you, but check with your social worker for further assistance.

If you can find any part of what I said to mean that I think harvesting is difficult, then you have even bigger problems than I thought. I would advise that you stop huffing paint.

I Wanna Be The Guy - High skill requiring game, but I've beaten it on Very Hard numerous times.

But the funny thing is, if SOE made a MMORPG require the same amount of skill as I Wanna Be The Guy you'd have the same people whining about tedium whining saying it's too hard and only for lifeless faggots that practice 30 hours a day, 8 days a week, and clearly because they have a job/wife/child/horse they have sex with, or any other excuse they can think of, it should be nerfed to require no skill.

So what the fuck, what's the obsession with people wanting everything handed to them on a silver platter with no effort put forth whatsoever? It's this stupid obsession that leaves me with no games to play ever because any that come out I exhaust any and all fun in a matter of a day or two.

And on the matter of "tedious" quests involving hundreds of harvests, how about this: Don't put forth any effort manually harvesting. Instead, program a bot to do it for you. Challenge yourself to make it so life-like that anybody that passes by or sends you a tell, or even a GM watching you, leaves absolutely convinced with no doubt in their mind that it was a human playing and not a bot. Can't do that either? Don't do the fucking quest.

The general gamers of today follow the idea of instant gratification. This idea is present through most, if not all video games today, From console games to MMO's, hell even "free" games follow this idea.

They figure since you have to work in real life, that you shouldn't have to work in a game. /shrug
