Gnobrin bans people in the official forums for unwritten forum rules

Wrong again. You've been wrong this entire thread. I like you, darling, but just because you have a vested interest doesn't mean that they are immune to attacks from people that they have blatantly steamrolled.

First of all, he's a tool. Plain and simple. Secondly, he takes his job WAY to serious, and treats others that way. All encompassing rules such as excessive negativity are bullshit, and to stress said rules as much as he does is wrong. All in all, they are a company oriented business, and their Community leaders are morons and terribly behaving people.

I've never seen a community leader as terrible as him. Go to the EQ1 boards for God's sake. They aren't NEARLY as heavy on the moderation as the EQ2 ones, although they look like my 4 year old coded them. Point is, his behavior isn't in some manual. Its not the SOE standard. Its excessive and its negative. He's helping drive those forums even FURTHER down.

Also, its his posted blog. Its not a private diary for God's sake.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not defending him or his actions. In fact, I'm glad that I never have to deal with that douchebag. You see I could give two shits what happens on the official forums because I get all the game/class info I need from unofficial sites like this one.

Keep in mind: the poor sob prolly makes like 30k a year if he's lucky, and he has to read all of the mindless drivel that gets posted on the official boards day in and day out. If I had to do that, I'd be fkn smitin people left and right witht teh ban stick too.

Srsly though, I'd lose my mind doing his job for one day, let alone for however long he's been at it. Hate him if ya want. I doubt he cares (I know I wouldn't).

Well, a couple of things. First, regarding the forum policy there, I wasn't stating opinion I was stating what I knew to be true. I'm sure we can agree that I might have some insight there.

If you want my opinion on the forums (something you may actually declare wrong if you'd like) then here it is; there is a reason why I racked up nearly 11k posts in a couple of years then stopped posting there (outside of Ten Ton Hammer business) and quit my mod gig. I didn't like how the forums were being handled, I made my opinion known, then moved on. I'm sure a few around here can testify that I spoke up on more than one occasion that the smack down was a bit too much and I rallied for the freedom of many of the forums (NGD, PvP, and server forums to be exact) in which I thought the rules should be less stringent.

As for being wrong about Gnobrin's personal stuffs. While it is available on the net that doesn't really make it all that classy to hunt it down and post it. I go out of my way to protect my own RL info because I've been stalked by players. Not everyone realizes that once they make their way into a public position that people get freakin weird, but alas they do to the point where they are calling your home phone to speak with "Savanja". It makes me cringe a little when people take that step in to creepy. I hope Gnobrin sees this and takes measure to protect himself.

I'm all for there being order there. But again, its a forums designed for players of the game that it supports, not for some no-body to get a hardon from banning people. Its good to know that you were against them, and that's why you no longer work there, however, any measure to support Gnobrin is in fact, in mine and many people banned there's opinion to go against the players, the ones who finance that site.

Same, but it's a matter of how order is maintained (or forced).

I mean come on, look at pagansaint's posting - I can see why they would remove the posting, to not spread word of avatars being exploitable - but the ban shows they removed that out of different reasons.
Maybe the words were a bit more direct and "inquisitiony", but...

Basically the message that comes across here is: "Don't go to a demo unless you are prepared to get beaten with a stick for waving your hand at the wrong time in the wrong place."
Posting in a thread that is about a topic that SoE doesn't like has a realistic chance of that happening if you do anything else than nod along, and that is just wrong, because it makes it impossible to state your opinion in any way.

I was banned for so many lame reasons it's beyond funny and not even worth going into. Long and short is, I work as Director of Community Development at a very large website, and if he was on my team, he would have been fired a long fucking time ago.
